ears never touched ... to chance upon a quill's release now enslaved to inkless streams of thought's reprieve -- of a man's word -- of a man's undreams i once dreamt a leaf and i sought life's end in the glow of our sun's brilliance our fall slowed by its gleaming rays 'til the hard earth became more familiar and if i dared believe all that was written before me guarded any original thought my dream to end in shame's darkest cast shadow having fallen from my tree of life reddened by the setting sun the leaf and i will surely pass unnoticed among other imposters my (a)musing heroes wrote from their souls giving pieces away as gifts on a Christmas morn as alms to the wordless poor tell me what to write and then tell me what to think tell me what to sing and then tell me what to dream i've cleared my mind of the want of fame we can all be poets that never get read ... or search the world for ears never touched M.A. Miller 10.09.00< !signature--> My calling before me, let quill be my offering; For to be called poet, no greater gift to receive. Exquisite imagery MA! This flowed so beautifully, with a soft, lilting tone of sadness beneath. Very well done, with an excellent message within these lines. Best wishes, /Kit |
