Since it's Playoff Baseball season, and Rose got me in the mood, I offer this tribute. --- Heroes --- Yesterday on fields of green Strode heroes strong Strode heroes lean. Yesterday 'neath golden skies We saw the fire In their eyes. On TV screens of black and white They loved the game And played it right Yesterday in sunlit stands We hoped while Sitting on our hands. Now Mickey's gone and Willie's old And Nolan's sick So I've been told. Yesterdays go by so fast The best of times Seem not to last. Enjoy the game with heroes strong Like Branca's pitch They'll soon be gone. < !signature--> Some men see things as they are and ask "WHY ?" I see things as they could be and ask "WHY NOT ?" Geez Rose, You had to dig pretty deep as fast as the posts sink to the bottom these days to get to THIS old post. I know that not many people have baseball and poetry as interests and I didn't expect a big group of replies, but I appreciate your kind words as well as those from Haleyja, Charisma and inot2B. Now lets all PLAY BALL !! |
