The Colour of My Love
Virginia Salter

If I stood, still,
in the world of so many yesterdays,
surely my love would still be the black of blind ignorance
running aground as a ship with no helm
toward the rocks
shattered to gray bits upon the shore

If

Yet, now, I stand here
not of the world
but merely in it
and sometimes it attempts to overtake me
yet again
with shades of gray
looming toward the deepest ebony of unknowing

If

But, oh, Yes!
I do not stand in the world of yesterdays
I stand here in a spectrum of possibilities
unconditional devotion within, without
brotherly
to share in fellowship
romantic
filling my nostalgic spirit of lovely dreams and fairy rings

and

sorrowfully,
admission in honesty
fleeting bouts of covetousness,
envy,
lust
from the world try to weave their green and purple grips on me
yet
I shall pray for glorious, prismatic color
to fill the love that resides
and blooms
as season opens my petaled arms

Very nice. I especially love the very first stanza and read the rest as self-discovery and the yearning to give.
Enjoyed it much
