~No Longer~

When I look into your eyes ... and no longer see my reflection there,
when your lips no longer seek mine...even then I wont believe you no longer care.
When the stars all cease to sparkle ... and I am no longer the wish you wish upon,
when I call to you at night ... even in the silence ... I wont accept you are gone.

If I reach out for you ... and find only emptiness where your warmth used to be,
If I play our special song ... and find you're not there to dance with me.
If I compose you a love poem ... but find you no longer wish to read my rhyme,
If I ask a prophet and he tells me ... fate and destiny ... passed over me this time.

All these things could never convince me ... that I must now let go of you ...
there is only one thing that would offer proof ... one word that would ring true.
For if the time should come ... that you no longer find your inspiration in me ...
that is when my heart will know ... there is no longer us ... we now cease to be.

If I am no longer your muse ... if I am no longer your reason for poetry.

Janet Marie

JM wonderful work, just full of all those longing feelings. They say time heals, well if it does, I wish the heart could be left back in time and we go back for in when it's better. Beautiful poem, and it's an indication of what a fine poet you are that you can write your heart so well at a time like this.
Take care

thank you all for these oh-so-lovely replies .. filled with hugs, love and sweet words.
no worries tho...ok ...all is well,
I was inspired for this one by a conversation with a friend ...
we were discussing the way a person can tell when the love or need has gone out of a realtionship ... and I was of mind that as a poet we would focus on the muse being the true measure of emotion.
thank you for such encouraging replies ... as always ya make me smile.
love ya

My goodness Girlie...you know how to start
a day don't you!  Wow...I'm always in awe
of how you make these gems flow together with
such grace and float into poetry like the
wings of the butterfly...you reach inside so
deeply and weave the pain with the tears of
angels and the smiles of saints...to cease
to inspire...ohhhhhhhh and the perfect song
plays.....sing to me Rob "If You're Gone"
...that boy will never cease to
inspire...*winkiewinkie* And when we no
longer have the rhyme in our soul...that is
when we will surely fall from the embrace of
the angel wing hugs that hold us in our
darkest moments...Love You...because...YOU
KNOW

Wonderful words J.M. They stir a memory, but like an ostrich I've stuck my head in the sand "dont want to go there!", but if you can stir emotion in my stoney old heart your a miracle worker. Thanks for sharing.

Olias.

It is very, very beautiful, full of emotion and expression and it flowed, Janet Marie, just like all of your work does.

Janet Marie-
wow...this just aches with such truth.
you, however, do not have to worry about
   that ever happening...you inspire so
many with every word you write.

   hugs to you,

Hey baby these dudes think you can't write the blues...well I'm here to tell'em I know ya can cause I know ya loves em and I know you can be the blues ...just like me..he he

I gotta see the song in your work ya see so I  took out the last part of the lines....and they were fab! ...but I got to the root of it.

Well I discovered just how you were settin this gig up!

"when I look into your eyes,
when your lips no longer seek mine
when the stars all cease to sparkle
when I call to you at night.......
I wont accept that you are gone.

If I reach out for you
If I play our special song
If I compose you a love poem
If I ask a prophet and he tells me.....
fate and destiiny passed over me.

All these things could never convince me
there's only one thing that would offer proof
for if the time should come
that is when my heart will know
we now cease to be."

Oh baby you was settin up the ends of them there lines with the blues...ya see that takes talent to turn the blues into a beautiful poem.....tell all them dudes and dudesses...that you is just writing girl.. you know I loves ya but I ain't worried bout ya...get down girl...write some more...yeah lordy ........he he......
just havin some fun!
