.... Just a flurry of ramblings that I managed to put together, and after a long stay away, I feel so happy to be back here.... so much that this is the third starting post from me for the day... and I am guilty as hell for flooding the forums... I appreciate your understanding and ever present support... My regards, Sudhir -------------------------- In the long vicissitude of ungainly spread-out thoughts I placed my bet on the first row and set my mind on the third element from the left. Then Mr. Life played his deal with a more than accurate throw of the rolling dice and he said "you win, but only by so much that you have to bet once again." That's when my senses left me for the master of these thought-puppets suddenly decided 'Hey, I feel lucky tonight!' and I bet on the fifth element on the fifth line. Then Mr. Life pointed his finger upwards to the dark behind the delighted incandescent light bulb scoffed "Look, there's the dragon hiding in the shadow out to get you". His cough shot the dice into the distant dark corner of the table and I squinted my bespectacled eyes and shrunk on my seat into a little nothing and shrugged my shoulders before he spoke and left. Yet he shouted rather daringly, "Good game, but better luck next time" I turned back and gave a glare, a stare like a thousand volcanoes squirting lava a million snakes spitting venom. "Never again", I said, "no more betting" "Right", he said, "see you tomorrow" and that's when I decided it was enough and ran outside, with the casino lights dimming on me like black night. Yes, I came out of that metaphor of a life and passed a stage, but then the instinctive gambler streak in me sprung, I gambled on Mr. Life instead and decided to write a rhapsody in love And the music seems to be playing tonight and the dice is rolling well, the cards well laid up, and bets spread out at even-even, the only thing odd was 'me in love'. So strange! Somehow I think Mr. Life is laughing and enjoying his final laugh, but then I don't care, doesn't cost me a dime to be in love but sure feels I've won a million-dollar lottery. I feel rich though my bank says otherwise but then, I don't care I am in love, and I am betting on Mr. Life I am all messed up in my head, but I have got my priorities right. I am in love, and I am betting on Mr. Life! ~ |

So THAT is what you have been up to all along...and here it was, I thought you had work to do, instead, you're out gambling and carousing and finding love... well done my friend... now back to work! Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, than speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

"bespectacled eyes" is a wonderful phrase. I also enjoyed quite a few other phrases in your poem, but I'm quite inept at figuring out where they went because the stupid browser won't let me look at it while I'm typing a response. |

At first I thought this a comment on the Ballot and the candidates - but I choose to see it as a rejectiion of life's termination and an embrace of love and life - and to that I give a hearty 'hear hear'! |
