Butterfly Ballots

Butterfly Ballots flutter and float
Into oblivion after you vote
Their wings are embellished with equal decor
Symmetrical patterns of buchanon and gore

So misunderstood, this creature of flight
Disappearing unnoticed into the night
We try to revive those that have died
And their life we so honor cannot be denied

The Butterfly Ballots flitter and fly
From flower to flower, they so mystify
Endangered, this species, or so I have heard
Will some day be known as a mythical bird

Butterfly Ballot, with wings now unfurled
Trying the patience of country and world
So small yet so strong, its misty illusion
Drawing attention, creating confusion

This small butterfly is more wise than you think
But his havoc may cause him to soon be extinct

LizzieGal~

Oh, it's pitiful situation
All across the nation
The world is in a dither
To see the Butterfly Ballot flitter

I think I have a clue
If it should interest you
In Florida we sit on our tushes
Watching Butterfly Ballots flit into the BUSHes.

You just made my day !

Walt, hard to believe that we are hand counting ballots in the year 2000. And of all places! Voting machines would have cost the county a lot less than the policing of wild butterflies. Thanks for the comment

Marge, I still don't know what's happening down there. The butterfly is walking a tightrope. You Floridians sure do make life interesting! Loved your response

I never thought of it that way Elizabeth but I suppose you're right if they had computerized voting machines it would have made the tally much simpler...I suppose it's the people who make money off the election that keep this policy out of action...we have been lied to for so long it's hard to put your faith in anyone....this is an excellent poem by the way!! I just got carried away....lately you're just like a fountain spewing out poetry....take care... ethome

ethome, I'm still confused, I think they did have machines, but I guess they weren't computerized. Ours are so simple to operate, I can't imagine not being able to change your vote while still at the machine.
Now it looks like Gore will win (shucks) but I'm all for a fair campaign
Thanks for your nice comments
Liz

Elizabeth! Look at you, getting all political  over a butterfly...Horton's making his way down there...just to see if he can hear a who...

Loved it, AND Marge's response! You gals sure have a way of making me grin...and I really look silly when I grin...

A humorous twist on the situation; good job here

While the nation holds it's collective breath, waiting for an outcome...you've managed to turn it into something to smile about.  By the way, know who the president is?
