Thank You, Sunshine

There are some things I never knew
That elephants like watercress, too
It’s really true
They really do

The sandwiches that they consume
On whole wheat toast, as I presume
Could fill a room
I would assume

An elephant is not a pet
A fact that we should not forget
For they beget
Another pet

Imagine all the watercress
You’d need to bring them happiness
A ton I guess
And nothing less

It’s Sunshine who invented this
An elephant tale with silly twist
I must admit
They twist a bit

But Sunshine’s brilliance brings us more
Than elephant tails, and that’s for sure
Her poetry is of the best
In caliber and loveliness

Sometimes she brings me to my knees
With visions of the world she sees
Superior mind
One of a kind

And now before my very eyes
A crystal glitter from the skies
Lights up the scene
Like in a dream

But not an ordinary stage
A picture postcard by a sage
A poet’s fan
The Hallmark man

A Hallmark elephant in the night
Spread watercress sandwiches glittering bright
Across the page
Of the poet sage

I look upon the glittering scene
And there is Sunshine penning dreams
The creative kind
From out her mind

Dear Sunshine, I adore your words
But don’t forget that elephant herds
Do not forget
But do beget

Thank you for your glistening tales
In verse and rhyme that never fails
You write with style
And make me smile

Enjoy your poetry
Liz

Elizabeth, there are times when you make me want to leave poetry and take up basket weaving or something! How brilliant is this?! I feel like I have just read Robert Service, Ogden Nash, Bennett Cerf and Dr. Spock, all in one poem..hats off, once again

Sunshine deserves every word, too

Sy, A poetess I greatly admire for her genius in creativity and wonderful verse. Thank you for commenting

Gosh, Balladeer, you make me blush with compliments, but I do think I have been distinctly influenced by Dr. Spock and A.A. Millne. I'm still a child at heart.
I greatly admire Sunshine's poetry and this is what came out
Thank you

This is great, and she so deserves it!

OMG, gee, wow...it's a good thing my business teacher who taught typing made sure we never looked at the keyboard, because I certainly cannot see it now...

Lady Santos, you've made my YEAR! This is utterly charming, fantastically ridiculous in the most Dr. Seuss sort of way...Horton would be SO proud of you...

and I am rendered speechless with this large lump in my throat...

I didn't know...I really didn't ever think I would ever inspire anything so charming!  There's no question as to this going into my library...

and I wish you could feel these {{{hugs}}} right now...

to you and Tony, all of my best...in prayer, and in kind...

you have the largest heart...and I am grateful to know you here in Passions...

and to everyone else...what can I say...? What a group! Thank you!

Lizzie, gal~
What a shine you put on one who sends so much
into our daily lives.

And just look at her glow -
SUNSHINE even at night !

This is precious, Lizzie.

Sunshine, You do light up the forum with your verses. I'm glad you liked this little poem, but you did make me laugh with your "elephant in the room" line, and now your "Hallmark Man". Great imagination. Thanks for your wishes for Tony

Liz, going through my library...finding smiles.  This pleases me as much today, as it did almost three years ago.  Thank you so much for your lasting friendship...and for all of the poems you've blessed PiP with.

Thank God for Ron's library....

I've been missing inspiration,
and now I see it free...
I came to find my poets,
and I even found here, me.

I always wonder and admire
the man that made improbable
something that we poets now find
all wonderfully possible...

a library where we keep our stash
...favored poets and evermore,
and then find little pearl delights
beneath the blue walls' many floors

Thank you Lady Santos, for this
wonderful memory of write,
I think I'll go find Elephant
and show him this fancy delight!

Hugs again, m'lady!
