My soul laments in sorrow
I cry out for relief
Despair my constant companion
How can I gain surcease

An end to pain
An end to worries
An end to loneliness
When will this end

I stumble on; my spirit low
It seems worthless to travel on
Tears fall down my face unseen
As raindrops mingle there

How ironic it seems
This sudden storm
Matching my gloomy mood
Grey skies; greyer spirit

Quickly as it comes, it clears
The storm clouds blow away
Looking at the sky I see
A rainbow glistening there

Somehow that incandescent sight
Reminds me of the promise old
It lifts me up in tender hands
Warms me through my soul

Now I walk with head erect
An energy filling my strides
Seeing beauty with newfound joy
I thank God that I'm alive

Oh Pepper,
this is sooo beautiful, and I like the mood matching weather. My spirit soared with this write.
Be well

I too, love the surprise of a rainbow...and loved the symbolism of them. Hugs for this one, I truly enjoyed.

So well told, this tale of despair and reemergence. Wonderful writing. Thank you ~
