You opened up my heart
Took away that mental block
Even though for you and me
I know that it may never be
You made me live again
Before you came into my life
Mere existence was my lot
Hanging on the fringe of things
Afraid to expose myself to pain
But now I am alive again
My heart is frozen no longer
My soul rejoices in the fact
Now I'm a participant in life
Never will I regret that you
Broke through fear to make me feel
Even if we never are
You'll live forever in my heart
You've set me free

very nice peppermint sometimes we need a little push to get out of the funk of misery. Glad to see the proper steps are being taken.

"You've set me free"
I used to think these words would not relate to me, but I truly know how you feel. I loved reading this and hoping it was all so real for you and isn't it a wonderful feeling?

Pepper, this is another one of your wonderful poems. It's wonderful, nothing like being set free, a lovely brilliant piece. I love this one. Truly I do.

Pepper,
loved this.

What A wonderful reminder of how it feels to be free. Whether in the heart or in life its self. Though you were speaking of being free of the walls that you built, It took my mind back to slavery and the salvation of being ones own free person.
Thank you for shareing.

Beautifully said pepper, I wish more of us whom suffer from past love's lost would wake up and see what you now see. One needs to separate the idea that "that's all there could ever be, my life's over, there'll never be another...I'll Never Love Again."

We're too resilient for that.  Love and heartache is like any other lesson in life; it serves to grow us, strengthen us, and the sooner we learn to make memories of past heartache, the richer (as with you) our lives will become.
