Is This Love Do I love you, or is this a passing thing. Can it be just a game we play, or is it something for eternity. In doubt I wondered how I could tell, then thought about the games we play, the games that children know so well. Campbell's made a special soup, Alphabet was it's name, and, oh, the fortunes it could tell. I stirred it up, swirled it round and round, and mixed up all the words it could spell, "oh magic soup, is this love I've found?" "Yes!" It said, when the swirling settled down. With hope touching near my heart I picked a daisy from the yard, settled down under the willow tree, and said, "now daisy, play your part". I pulled a petal "please let it be" I asked; pulled another and said, "this is not for me". I did this round and round the stem till only one remained to be thrown in the wind, I closed my eyes and pulled it off, "this is love it said to me". Still not sure I thought again, what other game could I play, then my eyes grew wide in glee, Ouija board's never lie, only truth do they say. Resting my fingertips on the planchette I nervously asked the question, "Is this love, or is it not?" I thought I felt it start to move then spied your picture on the shelf. There is no game I need to play, there are no questions I need to ask; this IS love I say to me, love as strong as love can be. w. james beard, jr. Kinda lame, I know, but it just kinda popped into my head and... [This message has been edited by jwesley (edited 11-11-2000).] |

JW* We seem to look many places for the answer...but the heart is the only place that matters This was a delightful change of pace and within there were many smiles of memories gone by...Thank you! Great writing~ |

Well gee whiz, expected to get my knuckles rapped for this one. I know it's hard to read in places but just didn't feel like messing with it. Thanks for the read and the overkind comments my friends...you're a terrifc bunch. And Marge, sweet poem lady, I guess we all look for four leaf clovers, blow on dandelion puffs, look for faces/words in the clouds and pluck daisys at some time or the other; me I never stopped, never grew up either! jwesley |

~You know J,...this is just too sweet. Not lame a bit, and don't let me catch you saying that anything you wrote from inside is lame. Ya hear? . This is such an innocent rendering of the thoughts and feelings that run through you,...Enjoyed! Take care you. *Peace. |
