The reflection of our love still lingers
i wish it would go away
the sound of your voice
still whispers
please stop it
I have nothing to say

the shadows of our love dances
across the dance floor of my mind
why cant my heart stop
reminding me of another time
stop tapping me on the shoulder
to the tango of candlelight and wine

i would rather be hurt without you
then to be hurt with you in my life
it is time to heal and let time say good bye
then be hurt with an invisible knife..

Yes i will always love you
but that is beside the point
i have to heal my broken heart
if only i could tenderly anoint

You kept me in the dark
a pearl, at the bottom of the sea
if roles were reversed
i would wear you
upon a necklace
for all the world to see

so please heart
stop tapping me on the shoulder
reminding me of another time
because this time i will ignore you
like a million dollar baby
in Woolworths.. five and dime

Oh, Victoria...
I loved the line: "....I would have worn you upon a necklace...."     That is really fantastic in thought!! You did it again, girl!!

Virginia this reminds me so much of a recent time. Very nicely done. Hope you break free of the ache.

"so please heart
stop tapping me on the shoulder
reminding me of another time"

This is so tender and sorrowful Victoria, and yet so lovely and heartfelt. What a beautiful rendering!

Best wishes,
/Kit

Sad, and beautifully written. I liked the choice of words throughout.

Victoria, sometimes it's just as painful to let go as it is being let go. Beautiful verse as always. You're a pleasure to read. Best always, Ron.

Victoria, of all the poems you've penned this one I must say is my all time favorite.

The timing of my read probably has something to do with this but LadyVictoria, you touch my heart with this one.

Thank you for writing and sharing this poem
