When I Noticed you |

When I Noticed You I look at meadows differently than ever in the past There’s something very calming in the greenness of the grass And splatterings of wildflowers lace the field with yellow hues I never noticed anything until I noticed you Have Hemlocks always lined this road? I never saw them there Was there always lovely magic in the summer nighttime air? I feel just like a child again , learning life anew For everything looks different when I’m walking here with you The sun feels warmer on my face, the sky’s a deeper blue And words have much more meaning, and I hear them all as true Important things are trivial, the obvious askew Everything is normal since I fell in love with you How fast the past is left behind, How swift the heart can change How easily I let my life be somehow rearranged It must have been there all the time, a veil I couldn’t see through But that was lifted instantly, when I first noticed you Elizabeth Santos |

Elizabeth - It's pretty difficult for me to choose among your wonderful work and come up with a favorite - But this one certainly would have to be one of the top few - This is absolutely wonderful.. |

Liz - Last night I replied to Sven that the love in his heart showed through in his poem - And today - It is equally obvious to me that your love has come through in this one. Thus moving it to the top of my 'Santos' treasures. ~You have to have a dream so you can get up in the morning. ~ Billy Wilder |

"Have Hemlocks always lined this road? I never saw them there Was there always lovely magic in the summer nighttime air? I feel just like a child again , learning life anew For everything looks different when I’m walking here with you" funny how love either wakes us up or puts us into deep dreamy oblivion! this is so sweet--how fun looking at love thru your eyes hugs, dg theres no such thing as a failure who keeps trying--coasting to the bottom is the only disgrace. -j popper |

I know that my perspective changed when I noticed you (and I'm not even in love with you, simply envious of your talent! *G*) This is another gem! |

Have Hemlocks always lined this road? I never saw them there Was there always lovely magic in the summer nighttime air? I feel just like a child again , learning life anew For everything looks different when I’m walking here with you This too is my favorite verse and I once again cast into the spell of Liz and all she paints in her words. Superb penning my friend as usual. |

Liz - You have such a wonderful feel for the words - you know exactly which similes to create to make your poetry sing. I have never been disappointed when I've opened one of your beautiful gifts. This poem is simply superb, just like you. |

This lovely poem is looking for someone to read it again...it is far too beautiful to dwell in the back pages... Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, then speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

Coco Thanks for the "jewel" Karilea, So you brought this one down from the attic and dusted it off. Thank you Kit. I should go to the back pages and pick up the gems I've missed, but I can't even get through page 1. Thanks so much for your sweet comments Amy, You are so kind with your remarks and I apprciate them very much Liz |

Ah yes, the amazing couplet within the quatrain. I love that style! I also love Hemlocks and I wish there were some lining my road. Maybe there will be when I meet a wonderful person. Or when I bring that wonderful person to my road. That would be great, would be like Christmas in July. |
