Deep in the heart

0 posted 2000-11-07 12:20 PM

The knight errant sat his charger white
on the bluffs overlooking the beach.
The glen behind, misting after night,
from which the knight did ride to this reach.

The gallant knight sat silent, alone,
watching a horse and rider approach
upon the beach, and the wind did moan
a warning for him not to encroach.

So he waited, and the rider came
up the steep bluff, stopping at his side.
She was a lady, perchance a Dame,
whose gaze she made no pretense to hide.

Asked the good knight, "And who would you be?"
as he looked into her eyes of green.
She replied, "My name is Destiny,
and I know the troubles you’ve seen."

"A jester without humor, dithers,
Lowly vassals do not put on airs.
A maid who gives not her heart, withers.
A knight who ventures not, never errs."

"Stay strong in your soul and brave of heart.
Ride forth, conquer evil everywhere.
Search for love and glory, not a part.
Endeavor, thus, with all you can bear."

"Sit your charger tall.  Yea, and be proud.
Ride forth, continue your errantry.
Your worth is good and your deeds speak loud.
Hear me, I am Destiny" said she.

He wheeled his steed, rode back to the glen,
sitting tall.  Feeling proud, on rode he.
So brave was he, a man among men,
for he had conversed with Destiny.

Love is.

Ah, but to converse with Destiny is to seek what?
For Destiny is a fickle mistress and speaks to many
She belongs not to one, but to all, but to none
But yet, her song. . .

A tale well told my friend. . .

SEA - You are magical. Thanx.

Poeminister - Thank you.

CocoBaci - How do you pronounce that?  What a joy to have written this in the same time frame you wrote about your knight  )

Sven - Yes, a siren. Diaphanous spirit.  Thank you for your perception.

Love is.
