Winter's Passing

(Sonnet)

Ice-cold lake, crystalline freezing slowly

Dark mountain peaks glisten with fallen snow

Cypress trees with downcast limbs bowed lowly

White sheeted mounds covered in icy glow

And footprints untouched by wind-swept fleeting

Climbing upward from brittle frozen chill

Toward distant home of warm hand's greeting

Snowflakes floating-- swirl, swirl, and swirling still

In star gaze, clouds clearing heaven's portal

Golden edged stairway through a crescent moon

Calling from above to live immortal

I feel the touch of angel's coming soon

Winter's blanket covers temporal rest

To wake on earth-- or, perhaps death is best.

your words blanketed me in soft thoughts of a first snow...I can't wait

Hi Bob, as usual, keeping us focused in poetic form...I agree, doesn't matter be this or that as long as we're covered with that blanket-we both know who that is. Very well done. amen.

Walt,

Glad you liked... didn't think I could do it either, but just kept working at it.

ethome,

This is my first sonnet and I am very glad that it has the affect of being free rolling.
That was the aspect I hoped to achieve.

Wynter,

What a beutiful name... I can image that your thoughts are certainly looking forwrd to the first snow.

compassion,

Yes, I most "compassionately" know who He is that blankets us and keeps our spirits warm.  Thank you for your gentle reminder.

Bonnie,

Thank you for reading and responding so positively...  I was just trying out a few new colors today and I am glad that you liked.

Victoria,

I am sure that it is lovely living in Armarillo...  are you an aunt living in Armarillo? Oh, that's armadillo next to San Antone... Sorry.  By the way, it way your sonnet about "baby blue eyes" which inspired me.

Thanks for all of your nice and sincerely appreciated responses...

Love, Bob <><
