I’m wandering again Alone in the park Reverie streaming Like the Brandywine creek beside me Sometimes it’s hours Sometimes days Between those moments I can hear Or read Or feel Or grasp Like a straw As the undertow Seeks to pull me under That fragile wisp of Rye Or is it a Daisy, A Black-eyed Susan Whatever It’s tied to you To that door He’s closed The clock she’s stopped So I’m lost In crowds of lovers Hand in hand Walking, sitting, Swinging Laughing in the sunshine Shading me From rays of you Your eyes Your love I try running Climbing This gym of bars Or swinging higher And the clouds intervene As if to say “Not now.” So I retreat To the house To the room To the screen To the hope That is my life My lifeline My pipe to you A younger me A free me Would be loose Untied unable to see The reality Of you Would prefer a shallow substance To the sweet depth of your heart To the tendrils you’ve woven Around my feet Around my soul Around me And I’m back In electronic nirvana Succumbing to my addiction Seeking my fix Waiting for you Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe ~ |

~You know Mr. Yeats,...you just scooped me up and took me along in this one. Captivating work,...got lost in this and it's ability to swallow you whole. Very much enjoyed. Thanks. *Peace. |

Where there's a will, there's a Mr. Yeats... well done, Sir! Karilea If I whisper, will you listen?... I would rather be silent and write, then speak loudly and be bound. KRJ |

SEA- It's all slight of hand- and well 'eating' - I won't go there ~G~ Thanks Victoria- Touching is what it's all about - I'm sorry I made you cry Wynter- In the library - an exceptional compliment - thank you Spitfire- Thank you - but avoid those code words - I'm vulnerable to them ~G~ Kethry- A 'great' from a great poet is a high compliment to me - thank you. Sven- I've found it's not always nirvana - but I sure am addicted - Thank you 'deer- The 'dope' I see in the mirror - I know is a hopeless case - C'est la vie - Thank you Martie- From the master of weaving - I am called a weaver too - is most flattering - thank you so much (bowing humbly) Sandra- I hope you found a soft spot to fall on ~S~ Thank you Paula- I hope she knows too ~S~ Thank you Walt- You're so kewl - thanks for reading Karilea- I try - but it may be in probate a long time ~G~ Thank you Butterflies- Maybe I should try jewelry? ~G~ Thank you so much for your shining compliments Coco- I really appreciate your words Thank you |

great lines in here, Bill. i particularly liked : "As the undertow Seeks to pull me under" "So I’m lost In crowds of lovers" "Would prefer a shallow substance To the sweet depth of your heart To the tendrils you’ve woven Around my feet" you did a really fine job with this... it flows, it pulls the reader into your heart, your mind, and it has a dreamy, lost-but-found feel love it! |

I love the direction in which this one flows. It is written with a style I often like to try myself. |

Temptress- When I write 'Free (or unstructured) Verse' I don't really think about it - some verse(s) get laid down and I look - and whatever the pattern - if I like it I try to retain through the rest as I complete my thoughts Thank you |

I agree with Kethry. You are a great poet. This one flowed more smoothly than the Brandywine, and took me with it. A truly superb piece of writing Liz |
