A cowards choice is
   to walk away
To leave that which
   he finds difficult
A coward lies to
   save himself
And hides behind
   his silence
A coward lives in
   his memories
Because its easier
   to live with a ghost
Than to take a chance on
   something new
So he plays
   at love
Taking what he can
   where he can
Then he is gone
   leaving behind
Confusion, pain, heartache
   and unanswered questions
A cowards choice
   to run and hide
A cowards choice
   to live a lie
You held me long
   enough to see
YOU...who you really
   are
And a coward will never
   hold my heart
Theres only room here
   for a man.

I do agree with Ron, this is a powerful poem.
But somehow there is a sadness behind the words...me?  I don't know the difference between being reckless and being brave ...sigh...or being afraid or just having a sense of self-preservation.

Lovely, thought-provoking work here.

Paula I know where you're coming from on this one...you want to blow off some steam, you are frustrated, you are disappointed that it didn't work out the way you would like, we all want love to succeed and to find happiness,  I have one or two I would like to write but I can't get them together, perhaps it is better that I let the anger cool down before I write or act on my feelings...I don't want any regrets...sometimes if we place our expectations to high we disappoint ourselves...anyway get it out girl...James

Paula, an absolute heart tugger write but OHHHH how it sends shivers thru my flesh as it depicts so much expression and yeah it touches upon a feeling once was tucked away...

What else can I say but other than what our PoetFriends have been said...

You shine in this poem PAULA, and though these are words of rhyme it does indeed share it's light with me...

Paula, it's not so easy to let go, speaking from experience. Good for you to be able to see him this way. I can't quite do it yet, though I know its all true.
Great expressive poetry.

Paula,
You are such a courageous person. Your words are words of someone who has been deeply hurt. Someone who will never fall into the trap "so to say" of a coward. I agree with you all the way, they are weak, creepy, and very hurtful people. I am here to listen to you.

Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love

I really enjoyed this, and I agree with all of it. I have felt this way more than once in my life, as I am sure a lot of others have. Once my husband (during the heat of a fight) told me we were getting a divorce. I told him he was a coward if he ever walked away over petty things.

Place this on your door, then when a male comes by he can read it and if a coward he will run. Only a man could walk in and face you after reading this.
Loved it very to the point. Sometimes you just have to be direct.
