Questions. Questions. Questions that birth thoughts. Thoughts that weigh upon me this night Amidst a silence of shadows A gavel ‘s beat plays within my mind My hands cradle the anvil Eyes closed to quiet the thoughts that shout To no avail Thoughts that question me with scrutiny The gavel beats Demanding a reply Now Now Now But I cannot respond to that which I cannot validate There is no alibi to seek haven within My response in defense will not warrant my actions I can only plea forgiveness to myself And ask for recess from myself No quarter. No mercy. Answers are awaited The hammering echoes Now Now Now The jury all has been created in my image Peers all. They all mirror the judgment I have long awaited Somber eyes reflect the weight Judgment will set me free, sink the anvil Deep within the muck of lies As I pen my verdict with blood ink of my soul Heavy the weight drags upon me Heavy is the anvil Pounded and hammered The judge seated high, awaits uneasy His gavel a blur of impatient Now Now Now Hands tied by deceit I break beneath the lone light blinding me I answer. I am the judge I am the jury I stand at trial I read the verdict. Insanity. < !signature--> Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. But I cannot respond to that which I cannot validate There is no alibi to seek haven within My response in defense will not warrant my actions I can only plea forgiveness to myself And ask for recess from myself Now this is something I understand Ron... very well. I think your poem is very well written...and thought out. I can feel that heaviness...always a good thing when you reach your reader hey? Enjoyed! The wind shifts like this: Like a human without illusions... This is how the wind shifts: Like a human, heavy and heavy, Who does not care. W.S |

Strong stuff here, Ron. And if you judge yourself, you should come out as a very special human being. So don't let your other self fool you, you're awesome. Sandra |
