Forgive please me now,
For I'm sure to offend.
I might even make foes
Of those once my friends.

Away I now go
Cross the boundry of sex
I am now a woman
Lets see what comes next.

Lets look at my past
At the years now gone by
I went into court
And told many a lie.

I looked into eyes
That had done me no wrong
I cheated and lied
Like I'd done all along

I shed a few tears
And wore a nice dress
And got all my demands
Not a tiny bit less.

Excuse me now all
While I go to demand
That I get all the rights
Afforded a man.

Some men see things as they are and ask "WHY ?" I see things as they could be and ask "WHY NOT ?"

Very good! I think we are really seeing some good responses to this challenge. It's a way to make a statement in reverse I think. But don't you think women should have the same rights afforded to men?

Of course I do Poet d. but don't you think the pendulum should swing both ways? Do you think that any unfair advantage men have should be given up while women keep any unjust advantage that they have? Is it right that 94% of contested custody cases are decided in favor of the woman ?? We live in a society where both parents work, and thus both give care in equal measures. Yet our family courts are still living in the ages where dad provides money and mom povides care.

Do you want true equality? Or convenient equality?

Please understand
I don't mean to imply,
That all women are evil,
Or that all women lie.

But the problem is that
When marriages break
The judge is to think
For the little ones sake

If a doctor fouls up
We see right away
He cost a person thier life
Someone died on that day.

When a pilot fails
To do his job right
The death toll's reported
Of his fatefull last flight.

The problem with judges
Each day is the same
They neglect thier jobs
And give fathers the blame.

Thier victims don't perish
Right there on that day
They die out of sight
With thier fathers away.

They drink and they party
Find acceptance though drugs.
The girls think that sex
Will replace Daddy's hugs.

Looking for love they
Find everything bad
Thanks to the Judges
Who cast out thier Dads.

The judges who "crashed" the
Young lives are long gone
But now as adlults
The kids left must go on.

No clue how to love
Or be part of a pair.
They take sacred vows
Without learning to care.

A short time after that
They too chose divorce
They know nothing else
It's thier only recourse.

The next group of kids
Watch thier world as it falls
But the offending judges
Bear no blame at all.

Women aren't evil
Or liars by chance
They'll take the free
Money if given the chance

When people fight
And cant get along
The one with the "gun"
Is not the one wrong.

The person with power
Will not compromise
That's why our judges
Are supposed to be wise.

I assure you dear ladies
If you though for flash
That you'd be the ones
With no kids & no cash

That you'd be more
Willing to work it all out
And that fellow poets
Is why I still shout.

Stepping down from my soapbox
I've been given my say
I'll watch the lost children
And quietly pray

Some men see things as they are and ask "WHY ?" I see things as they could be and ask "WHY NOT ?"

TLS,

I hear what you're saying
it's your point of view
and while I respect that
I'll add something too

Although you are right
to condemn those outdated
the law is the law
and is never sated

adversial system
leads to contest
and to lose one thing
means to lose all the rest

therefore divorce
and the practice thereof
leads to all victims
of court's push and shove

and not all women
are like that you see
some really try hard
to be as fair as can be

but with lawyers pushing
it's hard to resist
you're often caught 'tween
the law and the one missed

although it's not right
in fact it's a crime
the court system plagues
on emotional time.

Sorry for the rant, but I've been there too. It's not always as it seems.

Kethry

Kethry my friend,
I agree with your post
But temptation will
Easily overcome most.

If you find a wallet
Without owner I.D.
Would you turn it in
Or go shopping with glee

You said it yourself
"It's hard to resist"
But honest is honest
'Less there's something I missed

The law is the law
As you eloquently say
As it was in Munich
One summer day

One summer day
In 1941
When jews were all
Finished with lead from a gun

Since the law was the law
You'd have watched as they died?
Or would you have done something
To stem the cruel tide?

To keep slaves was legal
Many years past
Would you have kept yours
To make prosperity last?

Rhetorical queries
My friend to be sure
But were you the one wronged
Would you want me to do more?

TLS,

I hear where you're coming from
truly I do
you can't blame the individual
for the acts of the few

we work in a system
that's sadly outdated
but when rules were made
protection was truncated

the law cannot protect
the whims of the mass
so it works for the powerful
and that's sad alas

although we don't agree
I understand
I've been a victim
of the law of the land

I tried to be true
to my tenets, I guess
in remaining fair
I had small success

I'm not trying to boast
or to excuse
but in fighting systems
everyone will lose.

That doesn't mean
we should sit back and wait
accepting our lot
also our fate

I think we should fight
wherever we are
all small injustice
though near and not far

I think that living
each day, should aspire
to help all the others
oppressed, with no power

But if we did all
as you surely suggest
we'd quickly fall
and ourselves be oppressed

You have made it clear the courts don't always hear the truth. I am sorry that you ended up on the short end of the stick.
