Indelible < !signature-->I sit and stare for hours when our talk ends My room a still life of the familiar When I look out the window Night has fallen. Stars faintly visible above the city lights I walk out into the night My arms aching for the reality of you. The street, that from my window Was so wondrous and charming in its view Now somber dark and dreary So totally you have changed my point of view Only you now guide my vision. You my only purpose as I walk and think You light my path; you are my way. Reflections of your face look back at me From each window that I pass You have indelibly marked me And without drink or drug, you've intoxicated me In my mind I conceive you, breathe you, need you I sense you in all these ways. And in my imagination. . . The night is beautiful again - as God made it And you have given me eyes to see The stars again dazzle And the moon shines whitely in their midst And we walk together under this huge tent Laden with sequins sparkling in the moon-ball's light And you and I alone, hand in hand Return sleepy, embracing, supremely content As only our loving can make us. Things which matter most must never be at the mercy of things which matter least. ~ Johann Wolfgang Von Goethe ~ [This message has been edited by Wilfred Yeats (edited 11-01-2000).] |

What a wonderful poem this is. I just love it. Jamie Tu ne cede malis, sed contra audentior ito. - Virgil. "Yield thou not to adversity, but press on the more bravely". |

SEA - Janet Marie - Jamie - Sunny - Kathleen Paula- Thank you so much - I've gone thru "periods" trying what I call 'styles' of poets I love - Pablo Neruda, Walter Benton, Sharon Olds and Edna St. Vincent Milley - this was written more than 2 years ago when I was trying to emulate what I thought best in Benton's work |

Very nice Wilfred....I especially liked the last verse.... makes me think about a philosophy of mine.... 'reality seldom bears the possibilities of imagination'...... I thoroughly enjoyed the read.....ethome |

This is has just become one of my favorites of yours...a great read...beautifully worded. Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. R. fox |
