"A Year Has Passed"

A year has passed and still I cannot move
Each daybreak brings a surge of grief's embrace
A plowman bound in endless earthen groove
I search within your words to find my place

You urged through tears of pain and aching heart
That I go on to hear and see and feel
Above my head the sky, a work of art
I touch the stone and know it to be real

As memory overtakes my heart I see
In autumn's brilliant burn of rolling wave
Just how your tender love has set me free
I kneel and brush the dead things from your grave

I can't tell you I know how you feel because I don't. All I can say is we all will be here for you. God Bless and I hope the pain will lessen.

SEA, I'm sorry this was so sad, but we write what comes from our hearts, and call it poetry. Thank you for reading and for letting me know that it moved you.

Mark, I will gladly accept your wishes, as I believe they are sincere, and I thank you for them. I am trying to take care of me, and one of the ways in which I am doing that is writing again. Thank you, sincerely, for your thoughts today.

Sunshine, hugs ALWAYS help! Always! Thank you!

inot2B, thank you very much for your caring words. I am okay, just sometimes, well...it's difficult. It was a year ago today that we went to the hospital for the very last time. Thank you so much for being so kind.

Rainydays, This has touched me, as October (1st) was when my brother died. And I loved him dearly, it may be a differnt type of love, but it was still a love. My sincerest blessings. If i could summon the powers, I'd send the sun to shine over your roof. be well.

Tossing words like wishful coins into the deep well of an open heart. R. fox

You reached in deep for this one.  God bless.

Pain-filled...it made my heart cry out. I don't know what else to say, but you will be in my thoughts and prayers.

Minutes fade into hours ... then slowly turn into days,
Time seems like an eternity, frozen in winters gray haze.
Futures hold no promises, lost to residual love,
Nightfall calls in the silence ... hovering over from above.

Whispered songs and verses search for meaning and rhyme,
Desperately looking for the reasons ... embracing these moments in time.
Memories console and comfort ...your words return in  sweet poetic cascade,
Believing in your light I will heal and keep the promises made.

Time will eventually release me ... of this pain I will be spared,
Living the lessons learned ... the gifts of this love shared.

Rainy Days ... this poem of yours touches me deeply... I too know this pain ...
its not been a year yet but YES ...
it has been the writing and keeping the promises made ... that has been my saving grace ...
I hope you dont mind me sharing this poem here with you...I dont want it to seem I am taking the light from your poem ...
it is a very special poem..
and I know the depth they come from.
take care

Ron, the sun "is" shining over me from the words of your lovely poem. Thank you again...I'm glad I am typing and not trying to speak, as I still have this big lump in my throat. I'm sorry that you know loss such as this in the death of your brother. I hope that through your writing, you are able to experience a degree of comfort and peaceful place.  Take care, my poet friend.

Irish Rose, thank you so much. You are so kind.

Eizabeth, that you have taken time to read and respond is a comfort to me. Thank you, sincerely.

Janet, of course I don't mind you sharing your poem...I am touched that you were moved to do so. Thank you for your kind words.

Pepper, thank you so much for those hugs.

James, thank you for your caring words.

The outpouring of support from you "ALL"  is just overwhelming to me. I'm sorry it's taken me so long to respond tonight, but with trick or treaters arriving and not knowing just what to say here, it has taken a while to collect my thoughts. Thank you all from far within my heart.

I am so terribly sorry. Nothing I can say will ease the pain, this I know. But please know that you're in my thoughts and prayers.
Beautifully written. A warm embrace to you. Tessa

The words may evoke sadness, my friend, but it's clear that the life now dim to our eyes lives on in you every minute of every day and there is no sadness in that.  Beautiful thoughts, beautifully written...from the heart and the soul...

RD, this is touching and moving.  Indeed I know how you feel having loved and lost someone so important to you.  My father who raised me since I was eighteen months old passed away almost a year ago now.  The sadness remains a part of me, and his spirit is with me always.  So touching this is, it brings a tear to my eye.  Bless you~

I cannot thank you all enough. That each of you has taken time to share a few words with me moves me near to tears this morning, as it did yesterday. Thanks to a poet friend who's opinion I respect, I have come to realize that this piece, as a poem, is incomplete. It needs a stanza between two and three to depict the transition between being paralyzed with grief and being able to  move ("to hear and see and feel"). I may post the revision here when I've got it written.

I'm sending e'mail notes so as not to take up any more board room. Hope that is okay. Thanks again to everyone for reading and sharing your thoughts, prayers and hugs with me. You're the neatest bunch of folks.

Love,
Rainy
