Lived my life, Just going from day to day, Never worried much about tomorrow. The road was long, I got lost along the way, Learned to beg, to steal, and to borrow. Then an angel came, Told me not to cry, Chased the darkness from around me. An angel came and stayed with me one night. Wrapped her wings around me. When the shadows fall I still can her say, “Just close your eyes and love me.” When morning comes I open up my eyes To a new world All around me. At night I close my eyes, My worries fade away Her touch is all I am feeling Silken hair Across her gentle face It’s my heart that she is stealing. An angel came and stayed with me one night. Wrapped her dreams around me. When the dawn does call I still can hear her say, “Just close your eyes and call me.” When nighttime comes I open up my eyes And she’s standing Right before me.
