This poem, arose out of another, but it has changed not least because I have. When A Friend Becomes A Lover When did it first happen When did it first start My friend becomes a lover A lover with a friendly heart It's all so new and fresh It doesn't feel quite true That all the time we've been friends We could've been me and you * * * Don't you think I'm being reckless Maybe I'm being such a fool My friend and now my lover Tells me not to resist the pull It's rather strange and quirky It doesn't feel quite right That instead of having just a giggle We could've ignited the night * * * Can we trust such a new thing Would it really be a sin My friend who's now a lover Want's me to jump right in It's all a bit peculiar It doesn't seem quite sure That all this time I've known you We could've been having more * * * So why am I asking questions Why don't I trust my heart My lover who's a friend Say's this is where we start It's all mad and a little odd It doesn't seem quite sane That all this time we've been friends We could've been strolling in lovers lane Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

Excellent Marsha! You've captured so many of the feelings and doubts, anticipation and thrills of two friends crossing that line. Wonderful! Best wishes, /Kit |

Some say your love needs to be your best friend also, so you have a head start. I can see the hesitation. Step surely at first, then I'm sure you'll be running.best wishes. |

As I read this, I've just finished watching "When Harry Met Sally" for the umpteenth time... I may have to read this poem umpteen more times too... Nicely done.. |

I wonder too, if it's possible, someetimes the two just cannot mix. Good though provoking piece. "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey."" Laurie Lee Kathleen |

This is the third time that I've typed these thank you replies. Either someone, and I suspect the 'puter gremlins, is trying to tell me something, or I'm just not having a good day. Kit, you are so right. I thank you for being so perceptive, and understanding. You are always the first to give praise, and so deserving of praise yourself. I thank you for your replies always. Mick, actually if I had any doubts they are at an end. I will follow my heart, because no matter where it leads, it will be what will be. I thank you for the time you have taken to leave a message. Oh! and by the way welcome to Passions. This is a wonderful world, enjoy your stay here. Nan, yes it is a bit like when Harry Met Sally, but you are far too kind to me, and I thank you for reading, and for your nice response. Ron, my steps like my heart are flying to my love. Thank you, I truly thank you Krissy, the only advice I can give you is go for it, otherwise you might regret it. Thank you for reading. Sven, thank you muchly, I hoped the feelings had come through. Kathleen, ahh the doubts, but from now on, I'm going to live my life as I want to. I can't let the fear of failure hold me captive. If as sometimes happens I fall, or don't reach my goal, at least I'd have had the journey. Take care Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |

Great work; there is always doubts and fears in this situation; good to see you've made the decision to go on....you're absolutely right too..if one doesn't take a risk, one never can win the big prize!!! Peppermint, you are so right, I read somewhere, and I've no idea who said it first. That the only things you will really regret are the things you haven't done. So in the light of that, I'm going to go forward. I'm glad you liked this. Wayoutwalt, I thank you, I'm glad you liked this. So quit wasting time and go for it my dear president. If he is that close of a friend and shares the same desire...don't let another day go by. Today will not last forever you know, so build for tomorrow. Nice, thought provoking piece it is, but I do like your attitude in this one. |

Me and my best friend of many years also fell in love and it was the greatest experience of my life. Even with all the pain I feel today I have to say if given the choice I would so it again. This is really beautiful. Tessa |

Mark, my very dear friend I have every intention of going for it, it's an absolutely dead certainty in fact. Glad you like this, truly appreciate you replies as always. As for my tomorrows they start right here, and every one of them is golden with promise. SEA, true love very very true, we have so much in common, and we often seem to be thinking the same things. Tessa, that's right, whatever happens I will always cherish the fact that I've known him. Here's to happy endings. Oh! SEA I'm being mushy again Take care Marsha Take back the hope you gave,- I claim Only a memory of the same Robert Browning |
