The Dark of White

At dawn when sunbeams kiss the earth
And day has found a new rebirth
When dew has given way to frost
A season’s come, a season’s lost

From autumn breeze to wintery blast
I wonder if these days will last
When dark of white has laden tree
With somber bright of destiny

When crystal icy snowflakes come
The white of dark will hide the sun
With sparkling gloom the days will fill
Beneath an icy blanket’s chill

The sun will blaze upon the snow
Reflecting glare of sorrow’s woe
There is no place of dark to hide
From crystal snowy white outside

The virgin snow is seasoned pain
That comes with fate and will remain
The glassy crust on drift and hill
A mirrored window of my will

Shall I remain obscure from sight
Or face the bitter snowy white
I’ll walk in sorrow but with grace
And let the snowflakes hit my face

The bright of white will chill my whole
And seasoned pain will fill my soul
The spring will melt the bitter snow
And dry the teardrops as they flow

to take your troubles away

Honestly, I felt a touch of Robert Frost as I read this one!

Elizabeth, this is spectacular in its elemental metaphor and graceful composition. I don't recall when I have read a more lovely verse. Thank you ~

Oh Liz ~ Such a beautiful, melancholy piece.
And as those snowflakes hit your face,
Angels will surely be at your side,
Filling you with a heavenly warmth,
Making sure those teardrops are dried.

Oh Lizzie ...
this is so beautiful in its bittersweet melancholy
the imagery and elements of the seasons passing are perfection of metaphor
but the centerpiece and shining star of the poem is your emotions
my goodness ...the ache reaches out to the reader...
your writing touches so deep
take care poet of grace
love to you

One thing about reading the works of one as great as you is you gotta know going in that whatever emotions it holds is going to be felt as you read and your ache was truely felt in this one very deep.  Your quill is made of gold it is and your muse wearing wings of an angel.

Elizabeth this is another marvelous painting of the harsh but beautiful season of winter where the world is smothered in a blanket of white.....excellent! I have grown to love some aspects of winter, however, like you, I prefer the warmth of spring. All told every day I'm alive to enjoy the wonderful gift of consciousness I'm a very happy person and right now I'm happy to have been able to read this exceptional poetry.....ethome
