There are no castles in the clouds,
no knights nor ladies fair.
There are no keepers of the truth,
to be found,
anywhere.
And angels are just whimsy,
but the devil does surely dwell,
for in the hearts of proper men,
lie dragon's breath from hell.

The lesson taught,
from  the lesson learned,
is with caution
the meek must tread.
for 'tis surely a fact,
that once trust has been burned,
the innocent soul shall be dead.

Those who elect
to serve and protect,
to guard the most fragile of kind.
Are mere human's at best,
and bear guilt with the rest,
for pain caused,
to a delicate mind.

Look no less than the inner soul,
to find beauty
that hides from the eyes.
For truth and wisdom,
know not color nor form,
'tis purity, without a disquise.

Thank you, all. This one is special to me. Very special. It started out as a piece on disillusionment, and somehome ended up reassuring myself that there is hope in one's convictions. This is the only piece I've ever written for myself. I am very glad you saw in it what I too see. A like vision.
