Metaphors

In 'The Pilot's Wife'
In the sea
She threw her ring
A metaphor
For all to see

In the 'Titanic'
The necklace
Was thrown too
Another Metaphor
Into the blue

Metaphors
For our dreams-
Sometimes dashed
A china plate
Dropped and crashed
Just as our fate

Metaphors
For our hopes
Metaphors
For our dreams
Metaphors
For all our schemes

A single rose
Thrown in the pool
A diamond ring
That precious jewel
Down the drain
What's it for
Just another metaphor

Floating away
Sinking to black
Symbolizing
What we lack

Dreams that were dashed
Dreams we held dear
Tantalizing
Once so clear

Candles too
And fire light
Warmth and love
Held through the night

Dreams without
Form or substance
Ashes dying
Where we once danced

Bring me back
What I once held
Return to me
All I beheld
Let me hug
If just once more
I'll take you even
Without a metaphor

We cannot tell what may happen to us in the strange medley of life.
But we can decide what happens in us... how we can take it, what we
can do wit

Jamie-
Humble thanks

Ron-
truly - I appreciate your words

Corinne-
I wish the concept wee totally original with me - but Walter Benton said - in his 'Entry May 11": "...But I see you best unrelated ... without a metaphor to your name..." I hope I can be forgiven for extrapolating on the thought. Thank you

Paula-

I'm an incurable romantic - I make no apology - thank you
