In The Shadow of a Woman

By: ParisGrl

In the shadow of a woman I stand attempting to break free
Can't you see how you are hurting me?
My heart you have torn to pieces, not willing to care
Your eyes burn me with your glaring stare
You say that you love me, maybe in your way, you do
I must be honest; my love is slowly starting to fade for you
For 22 years, I've done as you asked
I ask you to give me my chance, but you will not
Your words, "I don't care what you want" rip through me like a gunshot

The anger that you turn on me, rest assured, one day will be turned on you
When it does, do you think I will be there to help you?
You say you want a relationship with me but it has to be on your terms
Why can't you just let me be?
It makes me sick, all this screaming and yelling, yet you blame it on someone who is not here to defend her position
You should take the blame for all this; you're the one who started this ****
Yet you sit on your high and mighty throne, up there all alone
One day, you will be knocked down, and when that day comes I will not be around

But don't you want to be around to see what happens??  Well, proabably not. . .

Excellent. . . it's good to vent isn't it??

Laura,
I'm sorry I missed this before...
my time in the forums is limited right now...
that said...
allow me to applaud your strength and determination ...
and NO one should ever have to live under a shadow of abuse of any kind..
respect is both a two way street and an EARNED comodity ...
when given freely ... then returned freely
I hope and pray for anyone in a situation like this ...
that others in your circle will help you find a way to solve this without it costing any one too much more pain...
but sometimes we do have to walk away from certain situations...
when youve tried your best...thats all you can do ...
thats all any of us can do.
excellent expression and declaration.
take care sweet poet
jm
