My Secret Self

Some would say that I'm a witch
over men, I cast my spell
I'm a woman of mystery
with secrets I'll never tell
Sometimes I am open
and spill my soul to share
I let down my iron walls
to show the hurt that's there
I have my flights of fancy
and dream into the night
I'm protective of my children
and love with all my might
I like to laugh and be carefree
spin circles in the sun
I blow bubbles in the wind,
making wishes on each one
I like to be alone when I break
with tears streaming down my face
So no one's here to witness
this angel's fall from grace
There are many sides to me
but inside, I'm still the same
I might hide behind a fan
but I won’t hide behind a name

Tara,
Great expressiveness. Wonderfully written, a little mysterious.

Tara, This is absolutely beautiful.
I so much enjoyed reading this work of art you painted.
Very well expressed and wonderful flow!

Beautiful Tara. . .

We all have these "secret selves". . . if only others would take the time to find them. . . then maybe they would understand. . .

Wonderful writing. . .

I can relate to this one.

I have a lot of "secret selves", perhaps I'll introduce you all to them someday.

Great poem.

Hi Dear Tara!

You are one of the most genuine people I have had the pleasure to call my friend.....what a delight you have been to know over these past couple of years....I can relate to being alone when broken....thats where I go most of the time, coming back when I am ready to accept those around me.

Thanks, Tara, for your beautifully written words!

Temptress and Wayoutwalt, thank you for reading.  I have a picture of me, holding a fan over my face, that I wanted to use, but I don't know how to put a picture in the body of the post.

Daniel, thanks for reading.  Those lines are among the most true.

Jeff, it's good to see you posting again.  Believe it or not, this wasn't aimed at you.

Irie and Passions Voice, I wrote this in response to a poem on this board.  I just couldn't resist the challenge.

Sven, what can I say?  I'm a multi faceted jewel.

Julie, thank you.  As always, you brighten my day.  I'm so glad we're friends.

Tara, this is so interesting. Just kind of flows, and spins gently. You sound like the kind of person I would like very much.

Sven, thanks for the bump to the top.

Sandra, I thought I'd take a brief respite from the depressing, love turned bad, stuff I'd been cranking out.   ) I'm glad you enjoyed.

We each have many sides to who we are...but
the bottom line is they are all us....and
once in a while we find someone to share all
those things with...bottom line though is to
be true to ourselves....great writing Tara!

Charisma and BDC, thank you for reading and responding to this.

BDC, you're right.  Sometimes we are lucky enough to find someone to share all of ourselves with.  Unfortunately, we sometimes lose them as well.
