Fields afar,I lay < !signature-->A white cross to pray My life I gave They say I'm a brave Others war I fought Youth of mine to nought Mama's tears so many As she remembers her baby Dad, spends lonely days Gins and dreams near the bays Never had a chance to play ball Daddy, I remembered your call In the name of freedom I gave my liberty Proud I was that day As the carrier left the quay Felt so important I did As that flag stayed rigid In the trenches Sounds of screams Broken dreams Laid to rest in foreign fields As I caught my last gaze The sun was ablaze In the glimpse of my dying The silhouette of a dove I gave my life For you to live! Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) [This message has been edited by Daniel J D (edited 10-22-2000).] |

DJD~ How could I not? My brother is in the Army, and many other people I love have served/or are in the armed forces. This hits directly in the heart. -SEA |

Daniel JD, this piece is eloquent and most evocative. Your words place the reader upon the saddening scene. Thank you. Rainydays |

SEA, My heart goes out to you. Your brother has God with him wherever he may venture. You are such a caring person, God bless you. Marge, The battles have not all been fought yet. The future of humankind depends on common sense alone. We have live tragically for centuries, the loss of a member of the family through war is a tragedy and a result of irresponsible leaderships. Rainydays, Thank you for your comments, point has been taken. Thanks for the highlight. Respond to my call and let the waves of my heart fill your life with the wonders of love (Daniel J D) |

Daniel* You have penned a beautiful poem here with such a powerful message...the unknown solider is only unknown to us...but not to those that loved him...you helped us to remember that. Very well written~ |

Daniel...you couldnt have written anything closer to my heart...to many people FORGET just what it is the boys and girls who join the military realy do...and thats dailly risk their lives for us...for our freedom...just look at the U.S.S. Cole...no we arent at war...yet they died all the same...yet I have heard people make such disparaging remarks about some of these brave young men and women...I have a story to tell you... |

Butterflies, They are not unknown to those who are close to them, How true. Thank you so much for your comments. Paula, So very right, most of these fine men and women do not get enough recognition. I treasure freedom and I thank them for giving it to me and millions more out there. They were our guardians on earth, may they have their own guardian angels wherever they may be at peace.
