Feeling Unjust Has there ever been harvest without toil, ever a climb made without the air thinning as each step drew closer to the crown. Have limbs never grown weary -- their strength tested while carrying the seeds of tomorrow's sustenance, as today's hunger burns in the belly. Is there a sacrifice known that hasn't caused any bleeding, or the shedding of doleful tears as it was laid down. Has incense ever burned in the temple, that its smoke and ash haven't served as a mark of consecration -- no, not that I've ever known. So when you say you're sorry -- feeling unjust -- wondering if you should let me go, remember -- I was born in heaven, and since walked through barren fields. Patience is the prize I've won, and for you I wear it well. Robert Joseph ~enb~ |

This makes me realize that even in being satisfied, we are always hungry again, for more food, poetry, life and love. It's a wonderful message and the words become more meaningful each time I read it. "When red-haired girls scamper like roses over the rain-green grass, and the sun drips honey."" Robert, So when you say you're sorry -- feeling unjust -- wondering if you should let me go, remember -- I was born in heaven, and since walked through barren fields. Patience is the prize I've won, and for you I wear it well. This was stunning. Wonderful writing!! Poetry should surprise by fine excess...it should strike the reader as a wording of his own highest thoughts and appear almost a remembrance. -J.Keats |
