60's Redux

Is it so terribly wrong
to want to go back in song
just like I did tonight
under starshine bright
and watch the 60's come alive…

Johnny Preston came with
Running Bear
and did a tribute to
Big Bopper
just as if he were there…

Merilee Rush came on
Angel of the Morning,
and though she's aged
haven't we all
it was a treat to hear her sing…

Wooly Bully pulled us in
Sam the Sham, hey,
he's the man
and if I could
I'd be Little Red Riding Hood

Gary Lewis still has
This Diamond Ring
and I'd Count Me In
if I were him
and I'd ask to sing it again

the headliner was our own
Leslie Gore, she stole the show
Sunshine, Lollipops & Rainbows
It's my Party, You Don't Own Me

brought back some real reverie

so now the party's over
the music belongs to the skies
the Oldies station's now cued in
and the memories are hummin'
and I sit alone and sigh…

I really like your approach - I saw 'run run run' and so many others pass before my "eye-ears" remembering doing the swim and the mashed potato and the hustle - thanks for this ~S~

What if life was just like a song?

So why wasn't I invited to this concert?  Wow, that must have been one heck of a night.  The memories of some of those songs and the times when they were shared are sweet memories indeed.  And yes, I AM old enough to remember "SOME" of them.lol...not tellin how many though.   Beautiful write.

Why didn't you call me?!?!?! We could have ROCKED AROUND THE CLOCK and, because I CAN'T HELP FALLING IN LOVE, I would have brought THIS DIAMOND RING and we'd be GOING TO THE CHAPEL before you knew it! The you would have told me to GET A JOB because you wanted some MONEY, HONEY and I would have RUNAWAY in THE STILL OF THE NIGHT with PEGGY SUE so I guess it's better you didn't call!
