(The date merely states I've written other poems titled 'Touch' and this is a new one) Today I touched A fallen leaf Of red and golden hue And in that touch I then became That leaf be specked with dew Its colors were so lovely I knew you'd find it so You'd lift it, press it, in your book And I would feel your glow Walking on I found a blossom Bright in sunshine's gleam Breathed in its scent Adsorbed its soul I was the flower it seemed For I knew to just what you'd do Encountering this gem You'd smell it, press it to your cheek And pluck it for your own And in the park I saw a tree Magnificent and tall Huge its trunk, strong it were I hugged its girth withal And so became that lofty tree Until you came with all your charms Shading all about Releasing me and my arms Can I hug you? We cannot tell what may happen to us in the strange medley of life. But we can decide what happens in us... how we can take it, what we can do with it [This message has been edited by Wilfred Yeats (edited 10-20-2000).] |

yes, please... i could use a hug right now i really like this one, Bill.. thanks for sharing it ... seasons change and it's good to be able to view the beauty of them... i, for one, like summer, warmth, but autumn comes and then winter, one day... and the leaves are beautiful and sometimes you have to put on a coat just to keep out the chill.. oh well... it's the turning of things, the way things fall (i know the hug offer wasn't meant for me in particular but since you offered... oh, what the heck, y'know? what's a hug amongst poetpeople anyway?) thanks for a very uplifting read - all you can ever really ask out of life is a sincere apology and some decent poetry - |

Janet Marie- I wanted to take the Metamorphosis thought a bit further than just the tree - Thanks ~S~ Doreen- In a N.Y. min. ~G~(but for a lot longer) Thank you~S~ Virginia- Delaware - we've been experiencing mild winters recently - and we'd not appreciate the summer and spring as much - without som of winter's bleakness (which still has a beauty all its own) One thing I learned between Marriages - primarily in PWP (Parents Without Partners) was the value of hugs - check them out - Last I knew in Wash metro there were at least 5 chapters - also see my posts in Prose Of course in the case of this poem the implied Metamorphosis is part of the hug package ~G~ |

Karilea- I'll take you first - as I completely ignored Martie's response (unwittingly to be sure) so I'll start off by thanking you for 'kicking this back up' - and then simply saying just 'thank you' for your sweet reply Martie - In no way did I intend not to thank you for your response - no excuse - I blew it - and - I'm looking forward to that hug |
