Deep Beyond Hurt Do you remember the night I read to you my pledge -- how my voice quivered with tears -- while your eyes welled, shedding drops of liquid love. Rain of new devotion falling like a blanket -- dying in loneliness once a thought had too often -- it washed far from my door. Bliss, yes it followed -- and our hearts prospered for a time. Thieves then came to dash your hope in me, turmoil struck hard blows against your heart. Silence tore at my cloak until I was left standing with a fragment of what once was whole. Draped only in quiet, I cried out to God for your life to return to my failing pulse. And by what miracle or intervention I'm not sure which to claim, slowly but surely you returned. I sensed your spirit circling my heart, prodding at my chains to see if any links would falter -- and when you trusted once again, you laid with me and moaned your passions to my soul in heated song. Now we travel a cautious road as stones set to test our feet are not all easily overcome. Yet, we cling to the thread...a single strand all we have, its binding hooks set deep beyond hurt to the depths of hope...our hearts resonate in single time. © Robert Joseph ~enb~ **Just a note, if I offended anyone in replying with individual ''thanks'' for each response to my first post, I apologize. It wasn't done in an attempt to ''highlight'' myself. I will be sure to respond more collectively in the future. |

Poignant, hauntingly sad love poem - beautifully worded - and with tender hope at the end, however fragile. I love this. The spiritual wind that holds survivors aloft, plants the seeds from which bloom new hope ... R.J.G. |

I read much passion in this, it makes me want to read more than once, and each time I do I feel more of it, it's a very well done piece. Don't worry about replying individually, someetimes we have to do that when have the chance, sometimes I forget myself and then never get around to doing it. < !signature--> Kathleen [This message has been edited by Irish Rose (edited 10-12-2000).] |

Robert Joseph* This is spectacular, you have taken us full circle in the love hurt and catious road back to love. My heart felt hopes that this is a one way trip back to the love that sounds meant to be. As far as individual replies...don't worry about it...some people never give thanks so I'd say anyway you go about it is just right! |

Sometimes we have to hurt a little to remind us what we have taken for granted. I loved your poem! |

RJ~ This is a stunning write. 'binding hooks set deep beyond hurt to the depths of hope' And where there is hope .... there is light. This one indeed whispered the blues. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |
