Ode to a Single Mom You walked in meadows of your dreams The visions faded fast, it seems For you would follow by command A pathway marked by God’s own hand You have within his care and Grace Been shown your purpose and your place Within the wake of God’s design You have been given a gift divine The gift of life entrusted you More than the hardships passing through Define your life and who you are Surpassing youthful dreams by far Whatever pain, whatever tears Shall follow you throughout the years Your children are the joys of life Bestowing purpose to your strife I wish sweet music for your ears To cleanse the sore unwanted fears So that your voice in melody Will soothe their spirits tenderly I wish for you the scent of rose To carry home to all of those Who miss you while you are away And breath your scent at end of day I wish you grace and knowing eyes Wherein abundant splendor lies That you may recognize the joys To share with little girls or boys Let little pleasures be a part Of minute’s time and child’s heart Impart an evening hour to share With love and songs and special care I wish sweet music for your ear The little joys of life so dear Bouquet of rose to scent your skin And peace and love and joy within Elizabeth Santos [This message has been edited by Elizabeth Santos (edited 10-11-2000).] |

Liz this is so touching you brought me to tears. I have a couple people I know I would love to share this with. (as tears stream down my face) You have one GIFT and such a tender heart, and in turn display the most touching words, while you reach out and tenderly touch others. Now I'm a mess and I must go clean up Hugs to lady!! <*\\\>< I know not what the future holds, but I know Who holds the future. |

There is nothing more important in this world that any of us can do, if we are entrusted with little ones. Very well stated, Elizabeth, and very beautifully too! Denise |

Touching - I've known a lot of single moms, and they all deserve this tribute. Chris |

Hiya Liz.. You've done it again, I just finished looking at the scans of my step-granddaughter, born Saturday night at 21:34, 7lb 4oz...nope she's not a single mum but oh what a treasure to see these photographs...took me back in time....Rebecca will be the third step-grandchild I have...alas I don't thinkI will ever know the warmth of her tiny but precious finger cling to mine...such is divorce...but you said so very well the wonders of being a mum.....oops I'm rambling again and adding to the jigsaw once more... You know I think back on when you first arrived here and your love of words just grew and grew and as the love for you grew so your words took on more magic....keep writing Liz, for those of us that can't find words anymore, keep sharing for those of us that shy away...keep loving, for all of us who do yet can't find the way back.. Bless you, you made my night with this.. HUSG |

Sea, Thanks for reading and commenting Martie, I don't have special eyes, but special experiences. Thanks Rebecca, I will be pleased if you share this with a single mom. Thanks Denise, You always understand. Thank you Nathan, Thank you for the comments Christopher, Thanks, this is a tribute to all single moms. I don't know how they do it. dg, This poem is for you. I thought it was a tough job and I wasn't single. I admire a woman (or a dad ) whose raises a child on their own. You deserve more than just a poem. Thanks for reading Coco, Thanks for all the smiles - and the extra one Victoria, Thanks for the comment Cindy, You made my morning. So glad to see you. Thank you so much for your gracious comments Liz |
