--- Why Flowers Bloom So Well ---

A lady walked the river,
   With anguish in her eyes.
“Why must I be lonely?”
   She wondered as she cried.

There was no revelation,
   No lightning in the sky.
No whispers to her in the wind,
   No explanations why.

Head held low, she wept
   And went along her way.
The pups that she was walking,
   Continued with their play.

Then on the trail ahead,
   An older man appeared.
The loving, kindness in his eyes,
Was clear as she drew near.

He smiled as he said “Hello”,
   And patted both the dogs.
He pointed to some flowers,
As they sat upon a log.

“Do you ever wonder,
Why flowers bloom so well ?
Listen very close my child,
   Their secrets I will tell.

It’s not within the flower.
   It’s not within the ground.
It’s not within the water.
It’s in your hearts, I’ve found.

You know that every flower
   Requires special care.
You know that if you love them first,
   The beauty will be there.

With each other, you’re so different.
   You want the beauty first.
Without it, you withhold your love,
   Then wonder why you’re cursed.

Now go my child, dry your eyes,
   And find yourself  a seed.
Find a man who’s heart is kind,
Who yearns to fill your needs.

Find a seed that’s in the dirt,
   Tread upon so long.
Give him love and care, you’ll see
  I’m very rarely wrong !”

He smiled as he held her hand,
   And gave a kindly stare.
“Trust me child I’m always close,
   I hear your every prayer.”

Now I have never said this before though others may have....but I wish "I" had written this.  This is so beautiful and your insight blooms in each and every word.  I could see the two sitting on the log and the wonderment in her eyes as she learns the secrets of the heart.  Superbly written.

that have never been touched.
There are places inside our hearts -
that need to be loved this much.

Thank you all, this is one of my favorite self authored poems. I think we have allowed the media to put too much emphasis on looks and thus we divorce more because we do not even know who we are marrying. We marry a look or a body and 3 years later we find out that we don't like the person we have married. So this is my way of saying HEY if you marry a cover girl or cover boy, JUST because of their looks...... You deserve what you get.

Exactly...a pretty face doesnt mean a pretty heart and if you pass up a loving heart because of the face and body that goes with it...then you arent someone Id care to know anyway...WONDERFUL JUST WONDERFUL

This is one of the most sensitive, beautiful, poignant, honest and loving poems I've read today, and believe me, I've been reading throughout the day in between job hunting.  This is absolutely stunning and that's no bull!  I really mean it!< !signature-->
