Older now, cocktails, relaxed breezy moment reminiscing amidst candle's flickering flames, back to where I lost myself before the war on drugs, crystal fad, we wore tomorrow selfishly, how fast could we live without dying? Fame was fame then, upbeat and personal, no need for applause, we were fashionable heroes like unearthed mummies, 'cept our dust wasn't toxic. It's funny how I breathe the air I wanted to leave behind for a moment, It's funny how I survived lone, peerless, the others reached too far, wearing tomorrow greedily wondering, how fast could they live before they die. |

I really enjoyed reading this. I ended up reflecting a bit myself on the years that have gone by and how I've 'survived'. "we wore tomorrow selfishly" is such a great line. |

Welcome to Passions, A.C.! This is a great reflective poem. Although I never lived in the 'fast lane', so to speak, I knew many who did, who didn't survive. These are words of wisdom from one who did and survived to impart them. Please check your e-mail for a special welcome! Denise |

The last line especially made me remember....and now I wonder where the phrase "Ahhhh those were the days"....came from...I'm just glad I lived through them! Once again Welcome, and thank you for sharing your gift to write with us. Hold me for yesterday Kiss me for tomorrow But love me for today. |

My kind of read... your off and running, welcome to passions. If I could paint a portrait, of this life in which I've led, and somehow sketch a story, of the visions in my head, I'd start out with a canvas, stretched tightly in a frame, and in the bottom corner, I'd leave room to sign my name. A.C~ WoW what a first piece very powerful and intense, very well said. Alot lived/live life in the fast lane and don't realise what they are doing to their body and mind in the long run. Glad you survived and WELCOME to passions Tracie~ Love is the life of the soul... It is the harmony of the universe |
