OCEANS OF SORROW < !signature-->Sand castles of hope, a dreaming myope, I can't see the tide rolling in. Oceans of sorrow, I know tomorrow Is but the price of today's sin. For who guards the dream, who knows self esteem In the rise of ambivalence? Ye, who holds the crest o'er sweet love's inquest? Come to this fallen Knight's defense! Seasons of splendor, oh, what grief you render Tied to a stake facing the sea. ‘Er misunderstood, lo, by death of all good Grant conquest by mere memory. Darkness impeding, wounds fresh and bleeding, Water arise, this won't take long. Sharks in heed the call, what's left to forestall Bloodlust unto the waiting throng. Salt stinging, screaming, eyes lost to dreaming Tear agonies that underlay - Look upon the shore of hope, held no more, Now given unto disarray. Whereby windswept cry, a voiceless goodbye, Ne'er finds peace within ocean grave. Beckons evermore a maiden's deplore There whispers upon every wave. By mystic allure of a love so pure, The angels spread their wings in flight. By rise of the tide in chance to be bride, All dance now before me in white. Lo, as if this wail per chance could avail, But her who awaits knight by day. Who with love in hand builds castles of sand, Cries nightly their washing away. Michael Anderson For all behind was dark and drear, And all before was night and fear. How many hours of night or day In those suspended pangs I lay, I could not tell; I scarcely knew If this were human breath I drew. This is so beautiful..a lilting, haunting poem...and it's true...we cry over that sand castle....maybe we should build it of brick? |

Wow Michael, this is superb. Such sorrow and remorse tied up in this. Methinks I need to try using this format, I love when you use it so much. |

Micheal, How do you do it? I have yet to read a poem from you that I did not absolutely love? Jeffrey I lie awake in a world filled with dreams, but dreams can be so real when you don't know you're asleep |

"...Who with love in hand builds castles of sand Cries nightly their washing away ..." Would that we could learn to build them not of sand ... A well-written poem, Michael -- consistent theme, excellent adherance to a rather difficult rhyme scheme, and the meter wasn't too bad either! I'm (moderately, mind you) impressed ... --Me Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |
