The wild bird wishes that it had a home. It gets to tired of being all alone. The caged bird wishes that it could fly, but the golden bars won't let him try. The two birds decide to make a deal. "You be me and see how it feels." So the golden cage is opened wide and the sheltered bird steps outside. "Free at last" he cries out loud and flies away to a beautiful cloud. The other bird now had a home and no longer was forced to roam. So each of them lived for about a year. Never a worry, never a fear. They thought they were happy forevermore, but they started to miss what they had before. The bird, now free, began to see that he wasn't as happy as he used to be. Nobody fed him every day and he had no safe place to stay. The bird, now caged, was always blue for he sat around with nothing to do. He longed for the days when he could fly as high as he wanted into the sky. Now the wild bird wishes it had a home. He gets so tired of being all alone. The caged bird wishes that he could fly but the golden bars won't let him try. "That man has shown himself great who has never grieved in evil days and never bewailed his destiny." --Seneca |

TennesseeAngel~ Ah ... such a wonderful way to present the idea of grazing in other pastures. Nicely done. ~*Marge*~ ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] |

T.A.* "The grass is always greener" syndrome or the "Don't know what you've got till it's gone" disease....What ever you call it...you have written it with style and grace. I loved the tale and the idea you used. Thank you for sharing this! |
