This Woman
Lori LockHeart

Who is this woman?
I realize there may be no one who really knows.
What does she think, feel, and believe
Way deep down in her soul?

What does she want, what does she need?
How does the world look through her eyes?
Is she in love, is she happy,
And who holds her when she cries?

This woman is surrounded
By a circle of family and friends.
They see a face, a life, and a quality,
But they don’t really know who she is.

She’s got a spark and a way about her
That others need and desire,
But if they’d look a bit more closely,
They would see her fire.

The essence of this woman
Is a treasure many seek to find.
It’s a mystery, and yet plain to see
If anyone cared about her mind.

This woman has so much to give and so much to say,
And she’ll gladly take on the world.
She’s sassy and strong, and yet in her heart
This woman is sometimes a little girl.

This woman is full of contradictions.
She’s tender, yet she’s tough.
She gives all of herself to others,
And yet not quite enough.

She’s grown into herself and yet she’s not
Quite the woman she wants to be.
Confidant and insecure, harsh and loving,
Serious and playful, bound and free.

You’ll never be able to break her spirit,
‘Cause she’s full of grit and gumption.
What she needs is your respect and admiration,
Not infatuation, so don’t make that assumption.

This woman loves the mountains
And finds complete peace by the sea.
There are so many places she wants to go,
And so many things she wants to be.

Even though this woman is popular
She’s a true loner at the core.
And the few men she has loved
Always left her needing more.

There is so much to this woman.
Her depths are deeper than the ocean’s blue.
Look into the eyes reflecting in the glass,
And see if this woman is you.

Or look at the woman beside you.
The one who completes your manly life.
Make sure you appreciate who she is,
And remember she’s more than just your friend, your lover, or your wife.

Who is this woman?
Can anyone really see?
This woman is all of these things and more.
This woman is me.

I hope you still feel small when you stand beside the ocean. Whenever one door closes I hope one more opens. Promise me you'll give faith a fighting chance. And when you get the choice to sit it out or dance - I hope you dance.

I think I could need - this in my life
I think I'm just scared - that I know too much
I can't relate and that's a problem
I'm feeling ...
If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home
There's an awful lot of breathing room
But I can hardly move
If you're gone - baby you need to come home
cuz there's a little bit of something me...
In everything in you.

Lori~
You been peeking into my heart again?
LOL. This was excellent. Thanks for
posting this tonight...it was exactly
the type of poem I needed to read. I am
glad that you at least know who you are
and are true to yourself. So many women
do not and are not. Take care my friend.
Nice poem!!

Lori*
Welcome back and with a BANG!!  Oh my goodness but you know how to dig girl!
This is the echo of J.M.'s earlier post
today...you two were writing on the same
page today!  So many mirrors are in this
Lori....wow, I was amazed that J.M. could
look into her soul and see mine and now
there is you...there is comfort in knowing
that another knows where you are coming
from and what you are going through, I
find the pain and the tears in your post
but also the comfort of understanding.

What does she think, feel, and believe
Way deep down in her soul?

They see a face, a life, and a quality,
But they don’t really know who she is.

She gives all of herself to others,
And yet not quite enough.

There are so many places she wants to go,
And so many things she wants to be.

Look into the eyes reflecting in the glass,
And see if this woman is you.

Or look at the woman beside you.

Who is this woman?
Can anyone really see?
This woman is all of these things and more.
This woman is me.

So many mirrors in this my friend....so many mirrors.  Again welcome home, I have missed you!

My goodness this is lovely.
We women probably about now should put
out our own challenge to write a poem
to slay a man's heart!!!

Lori~
A lovely reminder that we all are more than we sometimes reveal.
Enjoyed your thoughts.
