Tapestry (for jm's challenge my Fav) And you paint those words, A dusting of shells and crushed pearls Upswept in glorious idiom Vernacular, Ah, but she is no easy read, this one the labor of the velocipede, grounded so And we of free roam, entered unknowingly Paid for the peak, with Wampum beads, Jubilant, as her audience, listening with eyes Excite in the rising tintinnabulation, Ringing images of vivid curiosities, Astounded, we the watchers, the valance…. but, of the paint is the brush, the flesh, A being of color. Not servile to the bland, Poised, is she… holder of visions, Liquefying life, to its primal colors, Mixed in the pearls, and lost shells, Splaying frantic images of tiled movements, Earth tones, with memories, of the now past Tied to the fabric, with delicate heart threads Her soul in the Tapestry…….. But, of the painter, what smolders, behind those eyes, What mysteries? Vicissitudes of desire, of want! A waif of the sea, pure and victual, A taste of wine on wanting lips…. Food for the eye and the soul, Her tapestries, sustenance of life! Words, they are just words…. But, those eyes, those lips, they create hunger, desire! They see of life, breathe of want, whisper of love…Not words, Yes, I know, I see her now, She is the vision ....... She is the Tapestry. James Parker Haley Apr 6, 2000. Note: Some definitions My friend Dic Webster II, defines the following as........ Tapestry - A rich heavy cloth woven with multi-coloured pictorial designs. Velocipede - an early bicycle propelled by pushing the feet along the ground. Vernacular - The idiom of a specific prefession or trade. Also the normal spoken language of a country or region. Wampum - Small strung beads or polished shells, once used by North American Indians as currency or jewelry Tintinnabulation - The ringing of bells. Valance - A short ornamental curtain handing from the edge. Servile - subservant, slavishly submissive, suitable to a servant or slave. Vicissitudes - A change or variation, the quality of being changeable. Victual - Food suitable for consumption. Waif - Something found and unclaimed. as an object cast up by the sea |

Thanks for the definitions and all! LOL I have always liked this one because of it's depth intelllectaully. I think that is a part of you, you seldom write in your poetry. She is the Tapestry." --------------- well you really dont play fair do you  yes, I remember this little jewel... and its exquisite... I'll have to get out the rare gem encrusted pedestal for this one... I just love when you use those big words...LOL thanks for posting it for my challenge and for your sweet reply.. "stamina" LOL...thats a good word for it  later-swoon-gator jm I think I could need - this in my life I think I'm just scared - that I know too much I can't relate and that's a problem I'm feeling ... In hues beyond the eye's prism'd rainbow, annular glinting caught, on nature's show, woven with millions of ancient stars, shining down to be just where you are. Siren is calling, calling from up high, whispers of kisses falling, falling from sky, painting a future that could only be bright, in hues beyond the mind, this starry night. Corinne |

I am left breathless after reading that poem aloud, I had to untie my tongue a few times. It got caught on certain words. LOL James a wonderful and beautiful poem, rich imagery. I think it's an excellent job, Parker. Anybody can take ten dollar words and throw them into a poem but you used them expertly and with full effect. Also, it was very kind of you to include the definitions so that LongJohn could appreciate it, too..... |
