When we meet don’t tell me what profession you’re in don’t tell me about your hobbies or the books you’ve read don’t even tell me what music you like to listen to... These things don’t truly define you. Tell me, instead, what your dreams are filled up with and in the long part of the night, when you can’t sleep, what do you ache for, what do you long to do, what place do you long to be at? Tell me of the deep sorrows that have touched your soul and of how you coped with them...did you face them and grow from them...or did they defeat you, causing you to lie down and die within? If we meet and you can not tell me these things, we might as well walk on...I will not pry them from you they must come freely and honestly, from your heart, else we will never truly know one another. |

Nicely written. Enjoyed. Unfortunately, most of us do hide behind our little walls and not reveal our inner selves. |

jana... I HAD to read this just by the title alone... ache is my middle name...*smile* I love the premise of this... and this is why I love poetry so much... whe can share these things of ourselves in our poem and our words that we might not other wise be able to wonderful writing take care jm(queen of ache) I think I could need - this in my life I think I'm just scared - that I know too much I can't relate and that's a problem I'm feeling ... If you're gone - maybe it's time to go home There's an awful lot of breathing room But I can hardly move If you're gone - baby you need to come home cuz there's a little bit of something me... In everything in you. ~MB20~ "What the caterpillar calls the end ... The world calls a butterfly" ~Lao Tze Tao~ ~Butterflies are meant to be free~ |

My God, this is an amazing poem. It was the title that caught my eye, and I am glad that it did. You have shed new light on relationships, to truly want ot know someone, their soul and their longings. I re-read your poem twice, it is that good. And if you don't mind, I am printing it out to keep in my poetry book. I love it! This poem encompasses so much and it is truly wise indeed and gives a different perspective. Thanks for posting this. Take care, Melissa Honeybee [This message has been edited by Melissa Honeybee (edited 06-04-2000).] |
