I'm not sure if it's true,
But I want you to believe
Knives are only for spreading butter or jam.
The girl you first kiss will also be the one who kisses you last.
All our angry words are sledgehammers rotting from handle to head
In some forgotten junkyard.

I want you to believe
Stars are more than just burning gas.
Drugs and abuse don't have to depress you.
Flowers are more important than money.

I want you to think
Clouds are our soul's currency.
Rain is not god crying.
Love doesn't leave at your dying.

I want you to try
To see the world through a lens of dreams,
Never looking too hard for the supporting beams
That, when fallen, disintegrate to thin-lined seams.

I'm not sure if it's true,
But I want you to know
Happiness does not mean you always have to smile.
Even pain can be warming comfort for a little while.
There are more people out there than numbers you can dial.

I want you to know...
how moved I am by these words from you...
I hope you believe ...
reading your poems--
helps get me thru.

There are places inside our hearts ...
that need to be loved this much.

S'en,
Of course that makes me happy.   I'm glad you enjoyed it so much. Here's the humor of your friend almost committing suicide: you get some achingly beautiful poetry out of it. I'd rather smile than cry. Glad this poem can do the same for you.

Mike
