Another exhausting battle,
Fiends from hell rejoice over the slain,
Is there one among us
Who can make a difference in this world of pain?

When the senses are shaken,
And the soul is driven to maddness,
When souls are burned by everlasting fire,
Who can stand?  Who puts an end to life's maddness?

Who can lend courage to the weak and dying?
Who can help those who's souls are bleeding?
With a voice like thunder,
And a tongue to drown the darkness that's breeding.

When the souls of the oppressed fight in the troubled air that rages,
When everlasting darkness descends on man and beast,
When the frowns of demons finally drive our nations together,
Who can stand?  Who hath caused this.?

Who can answer at the throne of God,
Who can admit a pure heart and soul,
Who can lead the world through tempest to peace again?
Who can stand and finally take control?

We must gather together,
Remember lessons learned,
We must find the strength to face such onslaughts,
Peace and truth the fruits that are yearned.

Forget those petty self indulgences,
Cleanse all uselessness away,
We must draw courage,
For the battle rages even today!

It can and will only escalate,
We must now silently prepare,
Before the world is too far gone,
Strive for a future together, not just sit and despair...

Our Battles Have Only Begun..........

Isis, we all have battles yet to be won.  Never give up.  There is always that hope of victory.  I thank you for the reply to my first poem.  It gives me the courage to continue to write and to give more of myself.

Jeffyf thanks for replying to my post too!!
But I have courage my friend, enough to always hope, in this poem I was referring to the courage mankind will need to face the upcoming battles of good versus evil.  Religious or not, anyone can see there will indeed be a battle on magnificent proportions basically good versus evil.  We all need to be reminded of the bigger picture once in a while... more than just are own circumstances......

Hey great poem. Given me a great idea for another. I'll be working on it soon *sighs* as soon as I'm touching sides at work.

When the souls of the oppressed fight in the troubled air that rages,
When everlasting darkness descends on man and beast,
When the frowns of demons finally drive our nations together,
Who can stand?  Who hath caused this.?

A powerful poem Isis, I especially liked the above verse.

We must gather together,
Remember lessons learned,
We must find the strength to face such onslaughts,

"Peace and truth the fruits that are yearned". a fantastic line, and sweet fruits they are as well.

"It can and will only escalate,
We must now silently prepare,
Before the world is too far gone,
Strive for a future together, not just sit and despair." a wonderful poem, I think as poets we are constantly fighting when we ask the hard questions and challenge the boundaries of life.

"To be nobody-but-yourself-in a world which is doing its best night and day, to make you everybody else - means to fight the hardest battle which any human being can fight; and never stop fighting". EE Cummings.

"Take nothing but pictures. Leave nothing but footprints. Kill nothing but time".

Baltimore Grotto

"Will you accuse me as I hide Behind these layers of disguise And the mirrors of my own happiness.I've loved the freedom of being inside
Need a new start and a different time
Something grows in the space between me
And it's twisting and changing this fragile body" -Nicky Wire

So many hard questions...the answers lie within us if we have the heart to fight the battle.  Thank you for this food for though and for sharing a magnificent piece!!

Being true to one's self is the hardest battle of all.  Win that and the others are far easier to fight.  The heart and the soul must win, in the end, or all battles are lost.

Truly a wonderful piece.  Well thought, well written (as usual).
