the amber glow of a burning cigarette coupled---------with the crackling of its demise heralds yet another sleepless moment trapped in this prison ...alone... in silent timelessness I lose myself wishing for the cessation of all thought so as to have peace of mind for this mind in p ie c e s and still... the digital readout (click-click-click) of my inaudible jailor -slowly- -slowly- -slowly- ticks off the paces of this captivity following sighs, one weary soul, -mine, bellows into the darkness a longing for this innocence which blesses the ignorant ...see, it is known that only in the shelter of stupidity can one find a soothing balm to ease a tortured heart but, as the dragon-swirls of yellowed smoke waft languidly from my lips and into the air it carries the possibilities of peace and crashes them into the ceiling thereby dissipating dreams into for-never and mocking me with denial "Who needs sleep? Yeah, you're never gonna get it! Who needs sleep? Tell me what that's for!" -Barenaked Ladies [This message has been edited by Christopher (edited 05-30-2000).] |

A fellow insomniac---this is perfect, Christopher...drifts and floats just like smoke, and I guiltily confess, just as satisfying...glad ya picked up that pen again... |

Oh, Christopher~ If I had such vivid thoughts to light up the sleepless night ... I wouldn't sleep either. My God, this is simply an awesome piece of poetry. I'm glad you couldn't sleep. ~*Marge*~< !signature--> ~*The pen of the poet never runs out of ink, as long as we breathe.*~ [email protected] [This message has been edited by Marge Tindal (edited 05-31-2000).] |

I could hear the piano music playing in the background, that's how real this was. Kathleen [email protected] |

Christopher, This is an amazing piece of work, no wonder sleep did not bother to disturb you...it just did not want to disturb your work of art in progress... Regards, sudhir.< !signature--> Hey you, out there in the cold, Getting lonely, getting old, can you feel me? Hey you, standing in the aisle, With itchy feet and fading smile, can you feel me? Hey you, don't help them to bury the light. Don't give in without a fight. Hey you, out there on your own, Sitting naked by the phone, would you touch me? Hey you, with your ear against the wall, Waiting for someone to call out, would you touch me? Hey you, would you help me to carry the stone? Open your heart, I'm coming home.... by Roger Waters (Pink Floyd) - The Wall [This message has been edited by Sudhir Iyer (edited 05-31-2000).] |

Thanks everyone! It was nice to "pick up the pen" again, if only for a brief moment. I guess there's still times when one needs to purge! Sharon - I know dear! It's cause you're a visionary! Serenity - Thanx! 'Tis only for a moment, but thank you for the welcome! Marge - You still bring a smile to my face with every word you say... Glad sometimes I can't sleep too, though there are plenty of times I wish otherwise!!! Irie - Doing somthing like that would be tantamount to signing a death warrant!!! LOL actually, I can't think of many other's who's names I'd rather be called! K - manymanymanymany times over! HUGS Kathleen - Thank you as well... interesting take.... I was playing the banjo though! LOL Sudhir - Your kind words humble me. Thank you! |

Oh me oh my, where DID I leave my violin? hehehe Ignorance is indeed bliss, is it not..? Perhaps 'twould be advisable to lay off the 'Dew for a while, m'friend -- maybe then you might tempt that busy brain of yours into slumber for a bit ... hehehe Oh, and BTW -- I knew you'd never keep that promise -- the voices in your head just have TOO MUCH TO SAY ... (and besides, good prose takes too long to write) Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |

~Christopher,...boy what a piece. I could so see you there...see it all. Man....I haven't read much of you at all and am quickly realizing I am missing out....big time. I'll have to do some searching. ...so as to have peace of mind for this mind in p i e c e s... *Gosh,..how many a nights I have wished for this very thing. ...but, as the dragon-swirls of yellowed smoke waft languidly from my lips and into the air it carries the possibilities of peace and crashes them into the ceiling thereby dissipating dreams into for-never and mocking me with denial.... *This is so perfectly vivid and amazing I must say. Definately a very cool read. *Peace. |

This whole piece was sharply awesome...however, you introduced me to a new "word" that I really like, and for that, I must say thanks! For-never Bravo Chris! |
