She was always so bright She was always so pure She was an angel, so what did you do? She started fading, giving a light much more dim I saw her crying, her eyes red and tear stained She was an angel, so what did I do? She started to change into something sad and destroyed She began to fall, into a never-ending darkness This angel was falling too fast, and so hard She was an angel, but what could I do? This angel was stripped of her wings and her light Did we take it from her? Did we stop this angel's flight? I want her to know that I'm sorry, and that I do miss her too She was always so bright, so pure..... She was an angel, so what did WE do? |

Hi bunny, Thanks for responding to my poem. I think your poem raises a valuable question: to what extent are we responsible for another's downfall? It's so easy to see someone do something that we know is self-destructive and yet turn our heads and say or do nothing. Maybe by taking your poem to heart we can do better in such a circumstance. Keep writing! Mark |
