-note to the readers sorry that this is coming in at such a late date...i have been away from Passions for a little bit and just got back and saw this challenge. thought i'd give it a try. thanks to all for reading. Promises of Tomorrow, Memories of Yesterday Onward and forward I must go Never to look back at yesterday Tomorrow holds the best of what I yet to know Must keep on moving, reaching for a new day Promises of tomorrow so brilliant and sweet Memories of yesterday, pushed back Moving onto better days is no small feat Never will allow the pain or loss to attack The chains try to hold me down, try to hold me tight I break free, to reach for the sun Never to allow my shadows of the past, always continue to fight My life holds many special dreams, it's only just begun I don't have all the answers, but I learn more as time goes by Closing my eyes, I pray up to the Lord above to give me strength Growing stronger by the minute, even as I cry I will never give in...new horizons I will reach for at any length Memories of yesterday tucked safely on a shelf Promises of tomorrow are within sight I am now beginning the discovery of myself Walking out of the darkness forever, surrounded by God and his celestial light. ~Live today as though it were your last but prepare for tomorrow as though it were here~ |

AMEN TO THAT!! I'm so glad you did this, its never too late for perfect poetry. you KNOW I love this one my girlie-girl. Tis true your better days have just begun, your future is of brillance ... you will live and play each day in the sun. excellent declaration of promise and hope amy-girl love ya , jm Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme, They are not measured by the commitment of time. Some emotions run too deep to be described by words, Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard. ~Janet Marie~ "What the caterpillar calls the end ... The world calls a butterfly" ~Lao Tze Tao~ ~Butterflies are meant to be free~ |

Promises of Tomorrow, Memories of Yesterday The perfect answer to the new horizon poem. I really enjoyed your poem, fantastic though, "Never to look back at yesterday" I don't know, it is nice to reflect on the past but foolhardy to try and live in it. I will shut up now, just to say I am glad you posted this, great poem. ========================================== Onward and forward I must go Never to look back at yesterday Tomorrow holds the best of what I yet to know Must keep on moving, reaching for a new day Promises of tomorrow so brilliant and sweet Memories of yesterday, pushed back Moving onto better days is no small feat Never will allow the pain or loss to attack "Isn't it enough to see that a garden is beautiful without having to believe that there are fairies at the bottom of it too?
