~ ~ ~
You were a dark molasses ice-cream cone!
~ ~ ~
Chocolate fudge baked warm and shiny;
rounded and glossy as a perfectly waxed apple
bouncing in and out of the tub.
Two year old radiant princess
twirling in giggles,
with soap bubbles sticking to your
silky brown sugar skin like fancy vanilla icing.
~ ~ ~
Slick and slippery, you
leaped in and out, over the smooth edge
landing in the water on your tummy
laughing at the splashes.
Eyes like chocolate-covered cherries
with a sparkle in the center.
Tiny pearls of teeth beaming!
~ ~ ~
We stood in the doorway;
never mind the mess;
just drinking in your joy!
~ ~ ~
Oh, Danielle, you were
beautiful!
A smile to keep forever.
~ ~ ~

Oh, Rosemary~
What a PERFECT reminder.
I believe a child is most happy
frolicking in water ...
splishing - splashing

You sure brought this to life, my friend.
I could just see your heart smiling !
Love to you, Rosemary.

Rosemary, I stand at the bathroom door with you and my heart is full of the joy that you have described, right down to the catch at the back of my throat.

Rosemary,
this is indeed perfect and precious.
there are few things that bring more joy
than watching a child play and experience the innocence of that age.
you have captured the essence of that perfectly, in this beautiful.
THANK YOU for sharing this with me and for allowing my poem to bring back a memory for you.
take care,
janet marie

 Some things cannot be explained by verses that rhyme,
They are not measured by the commitment of time.
Some emotions run too deep to be described by words,
Forgiveness and understanding-remain the most beautiful words ever heard.
