My little girl she’s only three
Last night she came and cried to me
Daddy Daddy there in my room
A floating nose to meet my doom

A floating nose you’re being silly
A floating nose Daddy really!
Wife of mine go and see that nose
But that wife of mine gently dozed

I was naked and she was three
The covers were grasped tight to me
I’ve never been a homophobe
So I grabbed my wife’s frilly robe

Down that dark and chilly hallway
Each nightlight briefly we would stay
At her door she looked up to me
I hoped my frown she didn’t see

For all the silence we had held
Her puffy cheeks they swiftly swelled
She cried to me. Why? Heaven knows
A crepe myrtle tree could sprout a nose

Deary Deary your eyes of suede
Have spied a blossom Jesus made
That’s not a nose of monster scary
That's not a badman big and hairy

So Deary Deary you close your eyes
Let the hungry monsters sit and cry
Daddy Daddy what’s a blossom
A gift from Jesus and you got some

The doctor said, "You're almost dead.
Don't eat green bananas no more."
The sick little monkey groaned and said,
"But that's what I 1-2 the 3-4."

Walt, I liked the way this poem flowed and where it was leading, but I'm not totally sure what you are referring to with blossom, can you maybe explain?

Walt - This is absolutely wonderful - robe and all... hehe...

It brings back memories of the time my daughter had a dream that there were hands all over her - I had to remove every single one of them before she'd go back to sleep... hehe...

Nice job, my friend..

Walt~
How tender -
'Deary Deary your eyes of suede
Have spied a blossom Jesus made'

'Daddy Daddy what’s a blossom
A gift from Jesus and you got some'

You're a sweetheart of a dad.

I love your style, and I must now take a *bow* to a wonderful daddy who would put on a frilly robe - not to mention sleep naked - just so he can go see what's bothering his sweet little girl in the middle of the night!   ***  curtsies to you man ***

I'm replying because of the irony, in the poem re: the tree, but also because of the "You're almost dead" "But that's what I 1-2 the 3-4" Remember this subject at Barnes & Noble. anyways
