Obsessions

Oh God, the challenge
has been thrown
with a wave
of derisiveness:
are you obsessed
by this thing called Poetry?
I
decried
"NO,
I am not
obsessed,"
thinking clearly of attic rooms
or flats inhabited by
wild-eyed
manics
who will not
eat or sleep
but are incoherent in all 'cept the drive to
write, write,
write…

It is only 2:22 a.m. and I am not awakened by my muse but instead by a throbbing toothache and only after the hygenic means of retrieving relief does my muse return to taunt me:
are you obsessed yet?

So I take not pen and paper but just the Mother's Day gift of book of poems
and thinking just to read, take myself off to the bowels of my home & settle in to theorize on someone else's words, not mine.

Are you Obsessed yet?

Fleetingly, the minutes I've spent, having now searched for
pen and paper, turned into hours of would-be papered content of prose and
poetry &
I am not obsessed
with sharing the knowledge of my muses' laughing at anyone but me
as my pen scratches incessantly to quell this itch.

But if I chance to look up
at the clock
to see that more than two hours have
disappeared
into black and white,
then I am NOT obsessed.

Not yet.

Well Sunshine ... Obsessed or not ... I think I'm commenting on your 4th or 5th poem this morning, and I'm enjoying it tremendously. So please continue to "write ... write ... write"!!! Loved this,

Best wishes,
/Kit

Ah Kit, perhaps this should have been a simple posting of four in row...for this is indeed how my day has started!  Cheers, Sunshine!

You have got to be kidding -- staying
up late - not going to bed - using
toothaches as excuses to write and read
poems. Blaming Mother Muse for this
not getting any sleep.

Gee sunshine is 5:15 am here ------and
I ain't been asleep  hahahha
GREAT poem --------addiction

We could run an online, online poetry
addiction forum -----)

Sunshine, this seems to be a true nature of poets that you are depicting here.

When I wake up, I think of writing,
While I get to work, I think of writing,
When I get back from work, I think of writing,
When I write, I think of writing.

I don't know why
this so true,
Even when my eyes sleep,
I still think of writing,

Nightmare or lovely dreams,
Its poetry, as it seems,
Tales of love, despair, happiness and strife,
To write poems and stories I do strive...

Sincere regards,
Sudhir.

 Life is like a painting,
That in an art gallery is left hanging,
Though many come just to look at it,
A very few actually come to enjoy it.

Try a clove Sunsine, or failing that try keeping some cognac on the sore tooth, can't say it helps the pain but it sure numbs the feelings...*g*...and it all else fails, just drink the cognac and you'll fall into bed anyway..

Oh, This was wonderful! Now I see why my family gets so impatient with me! This is it! And I would never call it an obsession. Fishing is an obsession. Poetry is a frame of mind. Love it!
