WRITER'S BLOCK The pen is dry, Ink flask empty, My source of hope depleted. But why ask why When all may see My life - a dream defeated? A poet's passion, My lifelong curse, Carried with stoic vision. By palsied fashion Of dried up verse, Now come my indecision. Fervor feigning, I grant appeal To the muse of my failing. Darkness reigning O'er all I feel, I hang on her strings, flailing. Distant Laughter, Oh, Death on High Surely does seem inviting. Ever after Faced with the sigh Of having naught worth writing. Michael Anderson For all behind was dark and drear, And all before was night and fear. How many hours of night or day In those suspended pangs I lay, I could not tell; I scarcely knew If this were human breath I drew. Lord Byron |

For someone who has nothing to say because of writer's block, you say it quite well. Good job, this! |

Does mean that I will now have time to get caught up on all the ones that I missed when you were pumping them out non-stop....hehehe.....sorry, seriously, Michael, this is excellently written, as all yours are. I hope it passes quickly. I know how frustrating it is. Denise |

Writters Block Michael? I think not unless I missed something here! A dream is only defeated if you let it be! And that distant laughter is coming closer.. I have sent you some! *Hugs* Well done! ~Sheri |

The pen is dry, Ink flask empty, My source of hope depleted. But why ask why When all may see My life - a dream defeated? A poet's passion, My lifelong curse, Carried with stoic vision. By palsied fashion Of dried up verse, Now come my indecision. ------------------ M, I relate to this poem way to well these days, my bruised muse crawled in a corner to lick her wounds and rest from all the crap I keep putting her thru... yes, sometimes things hurt us and we lose our words for while...some things cut deep and we just need to give ourselves time to heal. I know its one of the worse feelings for a poet not to be able to put the emotions down and to work it out... quite simply--it sucks!! I know. but I also know this... poetry is not what you do... its who you are... it flows thru your soul its like breathing for you and I know that in your longest hour... your darkest day... your poets heart will always have an emotion to express... its just so much of who you are I know as long as you write... in time...everything else will be made right. your never defeated M,...not unless you quit, and I for one, aint even gonna let ya quit.*smile* take care my sweet poet friend jm (sorry to go on so long) did I tell ya I was trying my hand at prose... didnt mean to practice here *S* later M-gator [This message has been edited by Janet Marie (edited 05-12-2000).] |

"Ever after Faced with the sigh Of having naught worth writing." A beautifully written poem, even with your writer's block, Michael. I dare say your declaration of arid ink is, in itself, quite fluid and lovely. Hang in here, dear, for the curtains will lift in time... ~ Claire Could a greater miracle take place than for us to look through each other's eyes for an instant?......Henry David Thoreau |

Grrrr ... Writer's block, indeed ... if I didn't know better, I'd think you were making fun of the REST Of us who actually DO suffer from writer's block from time to time, oh He Who Writes Ten Poems In The Average Evening ... Whatever you write, my friend, you write it well ... --Me Full fathom five thy father lies, Of his bones are coral made, Those are pearls that were his eyes; Nothing of him that doth fade But doth suffer a sea-change Into something rich and strange... --William Shakespeare, from The Tempest |

Sunshine, just blowing hot air I am...LOL Denise, yep - got a lot of catching up to do - better hurry before I catch a new muse. Hopefully my next muse won't be of such a deviant nature. brian, if I find a cure, I most certainly will let you know...LOL Sheri, and I have felt that laughter my dear. Me thinks I want this dream to be over or at least to change directions, such is probably the cause of my block to begin with. I want not to write about something that is only pain to me... but would rather write of what lies ahead - and so I am searching. Ruth - I'll trade you for a cup of inspitation... Janet...LOL my simplest poem draws the most in depth responce from you. Thank you for being a "true" friend... I am finding they are hard to come by these days... Claire, I hope so but as I said, I am gonna wait this one out till I have something truly worth writing about... I've donated eenough of my heart and my time to the lies of the past. Becky, ty - I only wish I felt awesome...LOL Kess, I only write 10 poems on my GOOD evenings... LOL. Don't go giving me too much credit... Besides, it's not that I can't write right now - it's just what my pen chooses to write about - I do not wish to... I'll be back soon enough with something "good" to write about... Thank you all for the kind replies Michael |

Geesh, that must be a see through block you have. Can I borrow it? I loved this, and can relate to it for sure. Nothing can deter a poet, for he is actuated by pure love. Who can predict his comings and goings? "Thoreau" |

You really describe the meaning of writers block well i've had it a lot too, when i do i just listen to a song and one line of a song will give me an idea you should try it sometime if you have writers block. |

LOL...right back at ya...M, and YOU write NO "simple" poems me friend. you couldnt if you tried. and your welcome. *smile* It's amazing How you make your face just like a wall How you take your heart and turn it off How I turn my head and you lose it all ... And it's unnerving How one move just puts me by myself There you go just trusting someone else Now I know I put us both through hell ... I'm not sayin That there was nothing wrong I just didn't think you'd ever get tired of me And I'm not sayin We ever had the right to hold on I just didn't wanna let you get away from me. ~MB20~Leave |
