Fly gentle bird, your wings have now been healed
To you much has been shown, much has been revealed
Your heart has been made whole again, you are ready to soar
Much has been given to you, love, strength, and so much more

Fly gentle bird, you've waited your whole life for this chance
Glide through the sky as you once again join life's dance
Your soul once hidden has been seen with the wonder it deserves
And love has been given to your heart, a love that preserves

Fly gentle bird, sing the song the world waits to hear
I will be here always holding your heart most dear
Fly gentle bird, there's only one thing that I ask. . .
                                                                      . . . please come back. . .

Oh Sven...this just takes my breath away!  So tender, yet yearning...My fav country song used to be "Let that Pony Run."  This reminded me of that. Fabulous read, and it just makes me want to *sigh*....(deep breath)  I want to thank you too for being such a "regular" of late on my poems.  Your comments always mean so much.  I know I can always count on you for support and understanding.  Thank you sir.  *curtsies*

This one just tugs at the heartstrings....you know the old saying, "If you love something, let it go..."

Wonderful work here.

Sven--

as always your writing is exquisite! this reminded me of that saying...if you love something, let it go...and if it comes back then it was truly yours to begin with. you have such an awesome and beautiful way of writing.

take care!

Thanks for posting your poem Sven, I really enjoyed reading it, it had depth, meaning and life . It was very touching and sentimental showing a nice, gentle side to life .

Sven...what a beautiful, touching poem. It reminds me a bit of one I wrote.

Nest Of Love

I come to you
Like a injured bird
On flightless wings

Drawn to the safety
Of your healing arms
And soothing voice

Broken and scarred
I find my solace there
There in your arms

Where you hold me
Scared and trembling
Close to you

Softly you whisper
Words of encouragement
Words of love

In a heartbeat
I lose myself in you
And the healing begins

You shelter me
But do not cage me
Let me try my wings

Knowing all along
That I may spread those wings
And fly away

In turn hoping
That the love you have showed
Will bring me back to your nest

Thank you all for your wonderful responses, but I would be remiss if I did not thank you especially hoot, for your wonderful poem, which is exactly the right counterpart for this poem. . .

Some birds are meant to be free, others fly around just looking for a home.  When it is right...they will always return.

Sven for your sake I hope your bird from heaven returns hon, my fingers are crossed
Beautiful work as always, who could resist???

At last I have heard the song of enlightenment.... In your heart you can hear it now, if you listen....
It is the song your spirit has been singing since the moment of your birth. All lasting victories are won in the heart....

Sven,
Very sweet poem full of longing and hope.  You know...if you love something, you have to set it free...if it returns it is yours.  Best of luck to you, my friend.
